After spending thousands on Z-Wave modules we decided to make an effort to protect them. The final straw occurred about 9AM last weekend - 3 rapid-succession power outages happening all within maybe 2 seconds or so. I thought my Z-Wave thermostat was semi-fried - it was allowing me to set the date / time but would not "save" it. Turned out OK after just a short unplug /replug. A close call for sure.

I had bought a Leviton 51120-1 whole house surge protector months ago - Got it planned out and installed in just a few hours.

i have cosidered doing this also, how much was the unit and installation.

If you did not pay for an install how hard was it to install?

If I remember correctly, it was < 200.

It was not hard to install - if you are comfortable running new circuits to a breaker panel, you might not find it too difficult. Search the message threads - I recall there were some discussions about installing them
