Odds and ends and starting a new driver

Posted by Shinyshoes , 15 October 2012 · 1561 views

Just a quick update with some little odds and ends I have been cleaning up.

I'm very happy to report that since I "Extended" the antenna in my driveway sensor receiver has been performing flawlessly.  Hopefully I can finally put that issue to bed and move on.

I have also been busy adding some electrical plugs and switches in the garage.  I need to add some outlets to the work bench I added last year and took the opportunity to add some extra convienence to the surrounding area.  I'm adding a switched outlet for the wall mounted air compressor, so I no longer have to climb up a ladder to start the compressor.  I also added a plug above the over-the-workbench shelf.  This, combined with the already existing HA wiring will allow me to put a TV in the garage.  Finally, I am adding a couple of outlets near the edge of the workbench for everyday needs as well as a spot to plug in the heated cat bed my wife bought......

I have also been busy with the computers in our house, and successfully converted both computers and the laptop to a solid-state hard drive.  With that complete i'm now going to attempt to move my premise system to a temporary computer I have built from spare parts so I can attempt to install VMWare on my server.  I really miss the flexibility of the virtual server and since my employer has decided to go down the VMWare road, I will be attempting that rather than back down the Microsoft\Hyper-V option.

I have also de-bugged the Nuvo driver to the point that I was comfortable releasing it to my first Beta tester.  After an initial stumble out of the gate, It seems the driver is performing well so far.  I still have some work to do but it is coming along.

Finally, I have started the inital work on the Yamaha RX-V2500 Driver.  This driver is going to be significantly more difficult than the Nuvo driver because it is all hex.  It should be fun.

Thats it for now.  Making progress on a number of fronts.  I'm hoping it will be a productive winter.....

Awesome! Feel free to post your work when done in the Premise forum :)
