The kid's Toshiba DVD player died a few months ago. It had DIVX/MP4 playing capability. So instead of of using regular DVDs I used to burn a few MP4 movies in a DVD.
She is talking about a replacement. But I prefer the idea of a portable media player. It should be robust, simple to use and have a 7"to 10" wide screen so that both kids can look at it. Obviously, dont want to break to bank when a regular portable DVD player is around $100.
What do you recommend? It's for the kids, so even an old model should work.
My last option is to hack my EEEPC 701 with an internal USB hub and add a few gigabytes of internal flash memory. Then, they should be OK with VLC. I wonder if the Linux version of XBMC would run here.
