I have heard from several people now that they aren't visiting the portal (front page) on a regular basis for one reason or another. A lot of new content is being posted there, and I wouldn't want people to miss out on that. While 'CT Bot' does post the announcement eventually in the forums, it looks like it won't always show up in the 'View new posts' results, because of an issue with the news importer.

I am interested to see what the numbers are, so if you have a few seconds, please take the time to answer this poll. Thanks!

There's a front page to the site? I manually setup my Cocoontech favorite to be the command that gets you directly to new posts (http://www.cocoontech.com/forums/index.php?act=Search&CODE=getnew) :)

I put "not interested", but really it's just I always go straight to the forums. When I'm made aware that there's an interesting article on the front page (usually by a forum post), then I'm happy to go there.

I always go to the front page first, as I enjoy the new news that seems to be updated very regularly now, and I like the graphical content. After the front page, my next stop is always the new forum posts.

Before the redesign, I went directly to the new posts, and skipped the front page.

Thanks for the feedback so far, this data is very helpful.

FYI, there is a 'View new posts' link on the front page (it's in the Forums menu on top).

I use to go straight into the forums. But with the redesign of the portal and the great information that is being put out there, I actually use the portal now. Granted, most of the time I simply use the "Read New Posts" button, but that is because the content hasn't changed. If there is a new article or announcement I at least spend a fraction of a second looking over it to see if I am interested.

Same here, short cut takes me to forums.

I go straight to the forums and only go to the front page when I see the "What's New" post about it. So once every few days.

Ditto.

I too peruse the main page layout for new products/upgrades, but then quickly seek the dialogues found in the forums.

Given the clear popularity of the Forum, you may want to consider swapping the Latest Forum Posts section with the blue section that contains 80+ Automation Applications for iPhone and iTouch and Latest Tutorials.

At the risk of giving even more unsolicited-advice, a must-read for improving web page design is Steve Krug's book "Don't Make Me Think".
