Since the last time I updated this iPad mount list, Cocoontech has published a much more extensive list that you should check out.

I'll add my personal opinion to the end of this thread, but it made sense to me to redirect people to the official CT list, since this thread comes up on the first page of Google when searching for "iPad wall mount".

For me it would have to be a sleek flush mount/in wall solution. The only one that comes close is your first link, but that does seem big, and too expensive.. I'll keep searching and if I find anything I'll post back.
 
I am following this thread with great interest as well. An Ipad can end up cheaper than a Elo + thinclient to drive it, etc.

I am also mainly interesting in a flushmount/picture frame type solution that has the thing permanently mounted. The nice though would be that you only need a power connection and no data (wifi on the ipad). And with the battery the thing woudl actually work during a power outage for a while (assuming you have your server and wireless AP on a UPS).

Yes, that is my main interest. I want it mounted to the wall, and be able to continue charging without having a white USB cable hanging out.

This one sounds like you described except for the flush mount but then again a picture frame isn't flush mounted.

I work for the company that makes the Walet mount. It's not a flush mount like you were hoping for (it's more of a wall-mounted pocket) but it's VESA compatible and can hang using keyholes too. Also it's made out of bamboo so it's really attractive.

Is this the swedish one that you make? I didn't see one above called the Walet.

My ideal wall mount would allow me to mount the iPad in landscape mode, with enough space behind it to have a recessed AC outlet to keep the dock plugged in all the time. Then I could always keep the iPad powered while docked, but remove it when I wanted to use it for other purposes.

Maybe I just need to redo my templates for my HA system to be in portrait mode. ;)

I think landscape mode is absolutely the way to go for HA with the iPad. Don't change!

I can't post a link since I'm such a n00b here. You can google "walet mount" though.

I like your suggestion about the recessed outlet. The Walet may accommodate... it would depend on the outlet you use.
 
I found a new one coming out soon. It's made for a kiosk style application, and is not terribly friendly for home use, but it might work.

I agree. This the best yet. I asked them it it was paintable or if there is space to stick a mirror on the back plane.
 
Labshield will be creating a household version where locking and security isn't a concern. The current model is for public locations for kiosk use. The future household version will provide and access to all the iPad buttons. Additional photos are now on the site if you would like to see how the charger is tucked away. I think for the household version that a dock would be more in order so you don't have to attach the wire each time. Easy-in-out would be my preference. What did you think of the Pad Holdr? It seemed to accomplish what you were wanting for the most part. You would still have to use the cable and charger versus a simple drop-in dock.
