New products...?!

Good afternoon,

I was just browsing Elk's Website and saw something in ElkRP's release notes (version 2.0.10 has been out for a few days):

-Added future support for some new “not yet released” products. Specifically, the Elk-M1XRFTW Wireless Two-way
Receiver and Elk-M1KPNAV Navigator Touchscreen Keypad.

I'm very intrigued by that new keypad... Anyone knows anything???

There's been a lot of good buzz about their two-way wireless devices. They're pretty hot in that they can adjust to the right power needed to get the message through while being as efficient as possible on battery.

The little displays - we'll have to see; it's nice that they have an option of throwing a touch-screen where you currently only have retrofit wiring; for anyone with Cat5 run to those locations it may be less appealing than an iPad or something like that - but we'll have to see.

I'm waiting for the 5 button two way keyfob. A few months ago I posted looking for such a keyfob and Spanky said it was coming :) I may be overly paranoid, but I like the idea of having two way confirmation to show that my system arms after I press the button. If anyone knows what I will need when it comes out, please chime in. I'm using an Elk M1G.

I talked to Brad a while ago regarding the new devices and he said they were hung up in FCC testing and other certifications, they have to work on their schedule, not Elk's.

It was also mentioned a lot of the components came from China, so with the tsunami, delays.

I promise it's worth the wait ;) But FCC testing is a very complex process, so that will affect the release schedule.

I am waiting on putting a system in for someone that is interested in the Elk-M1KPNAV keypads. Granted they are not the same as an iPad etc but they can be a cost effective alternate for a wall mounted unit in secondary locations that may still need some of its capabilities.

The Navigator is now available. Does anybody know the MSRP? I'm pretty sure none of the usual suppliers have it listed right now.

I have mine set to flash the lights once and chirp the sirens to confirm arming from the keyfob. Just like a car does. I suppose if I were starting over and didn't already have a keyfob, I might get one of this style, but I wouldn't replace my perfectly working current setup. A couple of rules on your Elk and you should have a way to get confirmation with no expense and just a couple minutes at the computer invested.

Retail is $265 I beleive but I have not confirmed. I need to get a sample as I have a couple of people interested.

I have read that the Navigator directly mounts to a single gang electrical box turned 90 degrees onto its' side. I was hoping to upgrade, a location that currently has an arming station, to this Navigator. Does anyone know if the back plate, that is an accessory, has screw holes to align with a single gang work box in the 'normal' upright position?

So, in one of the photos on cocoontech, it says they'll be available summer 2011. Will they be available for purchase shortly?

The navigator is still a WIRED keypad...Hard to believe that with all the recent Elk wireless stuff that they don't have a wireless solution for a keypad yet.
