My M1EXP croaked and it was out of warranty - 5 years old. So I ordered a new one and it's firmware version 1.3.28. My old one had firmare 1.2.14.
Looking at the release notes, it says I need ELKRP version 2.08. I'm currently running 1.6.26
My M1G is running 4.4.12 with boot loader 3.2.2
My question is, do I have to upgrade my M1G to us the new ELKRP and M1EXP?
Replacing M1EXP, does m1 need upgrade?

I would go through the entire system personally. There should be some release notes on the dealer side as far as what revisions have been made.

If it were me I would have everything on the latest versions. RP is actually at 2.10 now AKAIK. Make sure you read the release notes very carefully as there may be an upgrade patch that you have to follow from on older version to the newest version.

Well, I'm now running on the new M1EXP and it went flawlessly. Followed the instructions, upgraded my RP, then installed RP2. Upgrade boot roms and firmware, upgraded my M1XSP. And lo and behold, even my secure port works (it didn't work before) and a bug where Output information was sent out on serial port 1 was fixed. I didn't see it in the release notes, but it was a nasty problem as it would insert Output change characters into the middle of stream being sent. Solution was to turn off the global that controls output sending. Now I guess I'm good for another 4 years
