I'm messing around with the rules and like to know of some cool ones that I'm missing.
I also read on the forum that the elk does its daily tests, is this true? What goes on during these "tests"??
I currently have the elk email me hourly as an update, is this essentially the same as the daily update?
---Also, what is the rule to email me if the AC power is out, and running on battery?
---and the rule to email me if battery is low?
M1 rules - daily tests, loss of power, etc

Those triggers can be found under WHENEVER <Misc System...Troubles, Restorals, Other>.

@wuench, thank you.
1) I am trying to send an email alert WHENEVER the alarm triggers (meaning siren is on)
is this correct:
WHENEVER ANY BURGLAR ALARM, ANY AREA TURNS ON
THEN SEND EMAIL [email protected]
?
or should I use
WHENEVER ANY BURGLAR ALARM, ANY AREA CUTS OFF
THEN SEND EMAIL xxx/
whats the difference between any area turns on and any area cuts off/??
2) I also see this rule
WHENEVER BURGLAR TROUBLE, ANY ZONE IS DETECTED
THEN SEND EMAIL xxx
whats the difference between the three above?
thanks in advance

Trouble would be a fault, not a trigger - so for EOL supervised or other trouble.
When burgler alarm turns on is probably the one for when an alarm is triggered - I'd test though to be sure. When CUTS OFF is supposed to happen when the alarm stops, but that rule actually doesn't work - it's not properly implemented in the Elk so it basically does nothing.

Thanks.
As far as daily tests, does the elk perform its daily tests on its own? At what time do we know?

I don't know anything about a daily test exactly but the Elk will perform a communication test at the interval specified in the Communicator...System RCs if you are reporting to a central station.
