Unable to set M1 clock?

Howdy folks. Back from a visit and I'm trying to put things right after the house was without power during the mid-atlantic storms a week ago.

M1 is showing 1/1/2000 12:00:00AM. I tried setting via NTP. Then power cycled the M1. Then tried setting via RP "Set Date/Time from PC". None of the above work to budge it from default. Of course, it looks like this setting makes various time based rules like "do x after 1 min" fail to work.

Is this new board time?

What about a manual time entry?

Hadn't tried that, but just did. After entry of each part of the time (DOW, month, day, year, hours, minutes) the previous entry zeros out. Nothing ends up being set. Wondering if the RTC chip is fried..

One more data point: Just realized the log is empty. Even after the power cycle and connecting with RP again, still empty.

I *think* if it's set for NTP, you can't manually set the time. I also know that, for NTP, you have to use an IP address and not a server name.

Thanks. Neither is working.

For all: This is a system that's been working for over 5 years. It seems to have failed to come back from an extended (>50 hour) power loss.

howdy,

could be the battery is dead. i don't think the panel will work right without a functioning battery. try replacing the battery first.

this sounds like a very old issue that I had. Try slipping a piece of paper under the RTC clock battery connector for a minute, then remove the paper to restart the clock. Now you should be able to set it.

A winner! That did it. Now clock is settable and log works too. Of course, time based rules work now too. Thank you very much.

Where is the NTP or Set Date/Time from PC setting? My M1 Gold has been 40 minutes fast for years now, I never cared, but now I need to set specific time based events. I just upgraded to RP2, looked everywhere (I think), can't find it anywhere.

ok, as is typical for me, seconds after posting but a while after looking I find my answer. never mind...

oh; I found it in the RP, under the "Setup" menu at the top. I don't think I've ever used that top menu until tonight. (The Set Date/time from PC, that is)
