Revolv with 7 automation radios

In doing a search of these forums I see a few people have mentioned Revolv but it probably deserves its own topic
http://revolv.com

I can see it will support
WiFi
Zigbee
Z-wave
Insteon

not sure what the other 3 radios are.

.

There is not enough information available, too much "future support", and from what I have seen it doesn't seem like you'll be able to write your own drivers and run your own code on the device.  So no.

I see the face of home automation changing drastically with these devices. I look forward to a day where I am spending hours on programming my netduino boards instead of tweaking the actual system. I have used most over the last 20 years from X10s first software package and none have impressed me. I am ready to plunk down cash but I am unable to figure out which system has any long term viability.

Smartthings, Almond+, Revolv, Lowes Iris, Staples Connect, Comcast, etc.. Monthly fees are out so I am Smartthings, Revolv, Almond and Connect. Staples Connect comes out swinging with loads of devices and the Lutron switches are compelling, but the site is devoid of information, forums, etc. Smarthings is top of the list because of their presence badges and it has an open API plus it seems I can do things that would require a month of Sundays in minutes. I mean, had the doorbot been out it would have saved me three varifocal 1080p cameras at each door, the wiring, getting them to fire off events that send snapshots (two months of Sundays), etc.

I was hoping to get some direction from these forums but it seems all these systems are still very new, but I am very excited to see where things are going!

At 16:35 in the video Mike mentions Cloud Services so I'm out for now.

I'm also not looking to Beta Test another product of promises.

I do like the ability to have multiple technologies integrated in to one unit. I think that other existing devices could have this same functionality if those other manufacturers chose to spread to other technologies.

The product also mentions Z-Wave, but the list of supported Z-Wave devices is very small. Revolv lists one Leviton “appliance” device. I don’t know which device they are referring to. Dimmers have a different set of command-class as compare to a switch.

The Z-Wave document here (https://help.revolv.com/hc/en-us/articles/201081083-Z-Wave) contains a few misleading statements – 65ft is Z-Wave’s outer reaches with clear line-of site. The document uses incorrect Z-Wave terminology which sort of makes me wonder if Revolv is just using some high level API or really understands Z-Wave.

When reading through Z-Wave HA appliance competitor web-sites, you don’t see these kinds of problems (i.e., Vera/HS). If you going to list supported products, it would be helpful to use vendor/product codes.

Not sure why they won't tell prospective buyers what 3 of the 7 radios they are paying $300 for can be used with.
Probably because they don't know yet. They just picked two widely used frequencies and put in some extra radios in the hopes that they could form agreements with other wireless device companies.

I have Nest and Sonos in my home... so the Revolv seem like a pretty good match.

Since it supports Insteon that seems like the logical way to go for lighting control.

I'm not sure how to integrate security though. Will Revolv work with an Elk panel?
