M1KP2 Flash

I recently installed a KP2 in the master bedroom using existing wiring from the old system and a retrofit hub at the control end.

Everything works as expected although I'm noticing a 'flash' on the keypad every so often.

I have the brightness set around 2, if I recall correctly, just enough that the display and the 'elk' key, and surrounding buttons, are illuminated.

Every now and then I'll see the rest of the keypad lights flash or blink once, kind of like you'd see in a short.  Just a quick blink and that's it.

I haven't noticed any sort of regularity to it, just seems to be completely random.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks.

Yes, there is a thread about that somewhere here.  I want to say the conclusion was it had something to do with the M1's phone connection.....

Hmm, no POTS connection, but I'll poke around a bit for that thread.

Edit: Found it.

"We looked into the brightness of the backlight on the LCD screen changing when set to a low level. The backlight is controlled by a software Pulse Width Modulator that blinks the LED's on the backlight very fast which appears to be dimming the brightness of the LED's. If the right set of processor interrupts occur at the right time and the Pulse Width Modulator has turned on the backlight LED's, the LED ON time may be extended that appears as a brightness change. We have improved the interrupt latency time, but have not totally resolved the issue. Setting the backlight level to 0, should stop the quick blink. A backlight level of 1 to 3 is more noticable for the infrequent blink."

Seems it's just a thing of no real concern.  Good to know.
