Can you still use an Insteon switch that's not connected to any load(linked)?

Hope I can explain this correctly. For my ceiling fans, my electrician put in two switches...one for the light and the other for the fan speed.

I've since decided to use the Insteon FanLinc with an Insteon six button switch to control lights and fan speed(all in one switch) leaving an empty spot.

Can I put in another Insteon 6 or 8 button switch in the empty slot not connected to any load(still has neutral and ground), then use my Isy to link it to any other light(s) in the house(also Insteon)?

Yes the KeypadLinc or most other Insteon Switches {two wire incandescent is one that can't}. Can be installed with Line and Neutral for power and the Load capped off. Then be linked to other Insteon devices.
