Looking to upgrade M&S Sytems DMC1

I purchased a home with a DMC-1 system and would like to upgrade it. I would like the ability to listen to music with more power than the speaker available with the system in each room. I have installed a 3.5mm jack to the main unit for integration with phones and ipods.
I am looking for options for upgrade or the addition of speaker/amp combo to each of the satellite units?

I believe that the DMC-1 uses CatX cable from the master to the room units.
Your best bet would be a Sonos system for audio and leveraging the existing CatX wire and installing a Legrand Selective Call system.

Yeah I have seen the Sonos systems but was looking for a possible speaker/amp unit that I can add in each room. Or remove and space the DMC with a stronger unit.

You might be perfectly happy going to A-Bus - it uses the Cat5 for distribution/power and the amp is part of the keypad in each room; of course it would mean separate speakers.  Lots of people make a-bus products.

I like the russound compoint better - it ties in with the in room speakers.

If you're industrious enough, you can always hack it to add an amp too - disconnect the internal speaker and put a line level converter on it then amp that - but that's a hack...  you didn't say what type of speakers you want to go for.

I have no preference on speakers. I just want louder and better sound.
I'm looking for inexpensive mainly.

Could you explain the hack a little more, possible suggest parts. From what i understand the speaker will provide the source and I'm just amping that to a speaker. Will the line level converter help or eliminate the distortion?

Thanks for the help
