Automation Studio NEW Object panel

Hello Everyone
For using HAI Automation Studio for at least 2 years now,I have been able to modify graphics and presentation but I still have a problem designing a personal and different "Object Panel" which should control a bunch of objects (Object List) like Sprinklers or Electrical Ourlets. The idea is to end with a panel showing only buttons and status required for these particular objects. I don't need dimmer buttons or Light bulb to represent sprinklers as found on default "Control2" panel. These preset pages seems to be hidden macros and cannot be modified. (At least, I don't know how to open or modify them.)

I tried repeating the same Control panel for each object changing the unit attributes to be controled, but the .haiotp file is increasing over 5Mo. and the Omnitouch 5.7e is crashing while updating. I think there is a max file size that can be used with the 5.7e

You may see a few screenshots of the project in the Gallery section of the Forum, Screeshots are from the Simulator. Text is not properly aligned but OK when displayed on the Omnitouch 5.7e

Fot those of You who are familiar with Automation Studio, I'm sure you will understand what I want to acheive and your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You should be able to copy and modify any element on the default pages/setups.
If you choose one of the specific objeccts like the security panel or the light or thermostat control, those items are hard coded and you can only change the buttons (those objects use the universal buttons of the master layout).

For a simple on off sprinkler control you should be able to insert a status object, open up the "collection" panel and identify the item you want to control (zone, output, flag, unit, etc.) and the states, and upload different icons for each state.
You can also specify the action that occurs when the item is pressed in each state.

For your layout, what file size is the background you are using?  Did you only upload it once and reuse it?

Here are some examples of layout pages I created.

This is my Irrigation page

The LEDs track the status of the output relays, the buttons toggle the output on or off.

The LEDs at the top track various flags and conditions (I can only water on odd days, rain delay, etc.)
The watering can executes the program (button) manually.

Links on the first page of that thread.
I recolored a blue and white set to the taupe and white color scheme you see in the pics.

ETA:
Looks like he may have changed his site quite a bit.
I'll have to look through it.

Thanks Desert_AIP for all this info. I appreciate.

I draw most of my icons using Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro (from Jasc Software). They are created using layers and the final icon saved in .PNG (mostly 64 x 64 pixels for the buttons).

My backgrounds are 640 x 480. Default backgrounds for the Omnitouch 5.7e are this resolution I think. However, the simulator in Automation Studio uses a lower resolution , exact? That's why the screenshots don't reflect what I see on the touchscreen.  Part of the design "fun" ....

I normally use the same background image for each page, except control pages Different backgrounds are used to reflect objects to be controled. I think this may causes the file size  to increase rapidly. Do You mean I may use same background for many pages instead of repeating for each?  Wow, Interested to know how... Each BG is actually  240Ko and I repeat it over at least 10 pages (2 Mo total)  I'm open to your suggestions.

We'll discuss the other problem (Personal Object Page) on a different Post  OK?

Thanks

You could pick one up on e-bay

Or you can run the OmniTouchPro software application on any PC based touchscreen.
The second option opens up larger touchscreens and faster processors, better web performance, etc.

If the files are named the same the 5.7e will end up using only one copy as a space saving measure.
But if you name the same file, "page 1 BG", "page 2 BG", etc. you'll eat up a lot of space.

Hi Desert,
Thanks for the Icons source. They look great.

I don't really catch what You mean when You say "Name files the same. I have a .haiotp file per project  generated by AS but the project is made of different pages, with different  buttons, functions and links from page to page. I must instruct each page to use the same BG image, no?

Would You please explain me how I may join an image  to my posts?  Post Box is freezing when I try to use the icon found in the menu bar

Thanks for your help!

You have the idea.
If you keep importing the same image as the background for each page, the file only stores one copy.
So even though it seems like you are importing multiple copies of the same image, you aren't wasting space.

I have the same problems with the site image tools depending on what browser I'm using. The one at work allows me to cut and paste text, the one at home does not. The iPad allows me to paste text but I can't use the full editor.
I'm pretty sure those issues are tied to flash version conflicts (no flash on the iPad).

Great Desert !
Now I know how to manage my Backgrounds to minimise .haiIotp files size.

I conclude my Crash problem issues are mainly caused by my errors while building the display, Button commands, etc...

I'm keeping work on this.  Let You know the results.

Thanks for the info.

There were several iterations of AS that would crash if I moved an image a single pixel.
I couldn't modify anything for more than 6 months back in 2012.
I haven't seen those issues for a long time.
The most recent version was crashing on one of my Win 7 machines but not the other.
