M1 Touch Pro Android Software

I can't believe I missed this, but I am getting older and have been pretty busy with work over the summer, but anyway...

Is anyone using the M1Touch Pro Android app for their Elk M1?

If so, can you mention the pros and cons of other software (myKeypad(Pro), ElkDroid, etc...)?

It is listed on Elk's site as the (preferred?) Android app, and I do remember (drvnbysound?) this being mentioned

Thanks,

BSR

I'm a fan of go with what you know... particularly when it's at a $30-40 cost. No need to waste money... I have plenty of other things I can find to spend it on :)

Oh I agree, just had a customer ask as they saw it on their Google Play Store (and I had no idea of how this app worked...and I'm supposed to be moderating a home automation/security forum  )!

I used it last month, and uninstalled it. It works well enough, but it currently is only sized for phones; does not size well on tablets. Plus, it doesn't do landscape. The developer is very responsive and is going to let me know when they correct those deficiencies.

Say what you will, but the cost of that app is just another reason why I'm glad I purchased my Vera for only $100. I have access to a much nicer, and free, android app to control my M1 with.

Good morning, BSR.

I did have some initial problems on some of my phones/tablets. During setup, once it establishes a connection, it needs to do an initial sync. Some of the devices would say syncing, but would not progress. I had to initialize a couple of times, but once it did sync, it worked great, and never had a problem re-connecting. If it wasn't for the landscape/sizing issues, I would have kept the app.

I do have myKeypad on my phone. It works well, and am considering upgrading to Pro.

Thanks again for the info Kevin.

FYI, I have the 'Pro' version of myKeypad, and my experience is much like yours with the M1 Touch.  Once synched it always connected and worked.  I do remember having to create a special user in the M1 with some kind of 'access' check box marked in order to disarm (this is well known issue and I could look this up if needed later).

You're welcome, BSR.

I vaguely remember having to make sure something was checked to use myKeypad.

Since you're using the Pro version, is there something you find lacking?

Thank you,
Kevin

A big feature missing from both of these apps is the ability to see your M1 logs. For the cost of these apps, one should be able to look at the panel logs.

I don't remember about the M1 Touch Pro app, but the myKeypad Pro can access and show the logs. At least I assume so. I only have the free version, and if I tap on the logs icon, it brings up a link to "Go Pro" to see the logs. BSR can confirm since he has the Pro version.

Kevin

Yes, you can see the logs with the pro version.  The software is OK, I'm not in love with the way zones are displayed.  It is functional though.

I'll be honest when I say that a small part of why I decided to switch from Android to Apple was because of the eKeypad capability; specifically the ability to interface with much more than just the M1, from a single application. That and the interface is very well thought out and shows well. Kudos to the eKeypad developer(s)... and I haven't even used their Blueprint feature.
