ATT Sim card plan?

Hi all, I have an ATT sim card from a decommissioned game camera. I want to use this card/line in a cellular monitoring device. what do I need to carry on my SIM card? DATA? Text? Voice? I currently have it on a shared DATA plan but not sure I need that. Sure would save some cash if I could remove the DATA plan.

I had to carry DATA in order to send the pictures off the camera.. But don't see how I would need it for monitoring.

thanks

Thanks for the reply, one of these....

Not sure if the link will work, but it is a Napco SLe-GSM-3/4G...

The next thing to figure out is how to connect it to the Elk... I have a M1XEP ethernet module with a serial port. Would you know if that is all I need? This cellular module supports contact ID , which the Elk has, so I think it should work.

I believe you would wire it to the Elk's telephone line outputs, not to the serial or ethernet port.  If you haven't read the directions for the SLe-GSM-3/4G, it explains how to connect things.

Thanks Ral, I have only had the new device abut 3 days ...I read through the directions (briefly, I admit) but there were a lot of different configurations depending on the console being used. I wasn't sure which one pertained to Elk M1... I will go back through and figure it out.
