Has anyone joined the Windows 10 Beta program?

I have two old Vista laptops here, and I hate Vista, so I loaded Windows 10 onto one of them last night. So far I like it. It is similar to Windows 8 but with the return of the start bar menu. When you click start you get the old style menu of programs with the addition of a list of widgets. The first thing that I noticedf is that it is a fast operating system. This laptop is an older dual core AMD Turion and it runs much faster with win10 over win vista.

You need to have a Microsoft account login and I already have one that I created when I got an xbox. Microsoft tries to keep you logged into the microsoft account.so that you will shop at the Microsoft app store but you can create a new Windows user as a local user and sign out of Microsoft if you prefer.

The install went smoothly and it should be interesting.

Yup here originally updated a Dell Laptop (i5). which started with W7 to W8 to W8.1 and just last week downgraded W8.1 to a customized hybrid of 8.1 and 8.0 which probably is similiar to W10.   I was thinking of trying W10.

I typically leave the laptops on in suspend mode (LCD folded down) here and there.  I shut off the tablets though leaving them in their charging cradles.  Noticed last week that I cannot shut down the windows mobile phone while charging it.  Historically phones auto forward to house phones and remain in the off mode while in the house docked to charging.

Previously updated an older HP laptop (still most favorite) with a core duo to fastest core duo I could find.  It was a PITA to update and I utilized the kitchen table while using the service manual to taking it down to pieces.

Just pressed the dining room table into service to deal with a dead 1gb drive in the wife's all-in-one Dell 2330.  Which has been a decent machine otherwise.

Yup using the kitchen table works for me sometimes even though it has been historically low on the WAF.

Yeah here updating the Ubuntu 32/64 bit boxes to Utopic Unicorn.  What an odd name.
