After doing some reading I learned that by pressing an F key you cause the system to generate a reporting code to be sent to the monitoring system and "activates event" determines that code(page 43 install manual). I wonder how this affects the spinning clock icon on the keypad lcd. I have the telephone in rp2 set up to dial my cell phone with a voice message and I wonder if this has anything to do with the clock icon spinning on forever. Maybe it is waiting for a response from a monitoring system that it will never get because there is no monitoring system set up at this point and because the system is not dialing out when I hit the F4 key.
Can anyone who understands reporting codes and how the Elk handles them tell me if this makes any sense or if I'm barking up the wrong tree?
