Premise Help with Radio Thermostat WIFI thermostat

I have finally installed my thermostats and they work great, but now I want to get back into Premise and start working again on the JQM UI.  
 
First I need some help.  How would I start to go about using the thermostat in Premise.  It uses a RESTful http api and returns json for the GET requests and you send json for the POST commands.  I setup the Lantronix UDS10 and created a custom serial device to connect to a thermostat.  How do I issue the commands and read the values returned from the thermostat?  Just looking for a push in the right direction.

I put this together to work with a Venstar thermostat.  I only reads the stat, and doesn't control it.  Maybe it's a place for you to start.
