The fire of automation and use of an Android phone and Android watch

Just nice to see this stuff.

Yup here the Amazon Echo still is in the monolith box.

I am guessing Ben Hawkins started to play with automation when he was just a wink of a thought of his mother and father.

I haven't worn a watch in over 25 years; hate the things. I'll be damned if I'm going to strap a micro tablet to my wrist!

Had a Quasar (LED) watch when they first came out.  It was a gift and a bit heavy.

I went back to a regular watch though and while its old still keeps a ticking - analog with a battery in it.  I do not wear it much these days..

Just to clarify, this has nothing to do with the Echo. It's Tasker with Auto-Voice and probably Auto-Remote too.

Watches are very much a personal preference. People can strap whatever they want to their wrists, doesn't affect me. Like with most watches, it's a status symbol for many people. Railing against smart watches is an insult to 'fashion'. Personally, I'm anti-fashion (second greatest hoax), but whatever floats your boat. Smart watch may be a fun toy, too, so keep in mind that's a great reason to wear one.

I'm a regular watch wearer. I always have been, and never got into the habit of checking the time on a phone and consequently always find myself checking an empty wrist whenever I forget my watch.

So two days ago I got an Apple Watch. Basically, this thing's a toy for sure. Even in two days though, I've become very fond of having quick looks at notifications or doing things like declining a call when I'm busy without having to dig my phone out of my pocket.

'Doing' things on it is pretty weak though. Basically all of the true 'apps' suck. Anything that's beyond a single action is usually just better done on your phone. That being said, I think there's a place for automation apps here, and that's notifications and status screens (called 'glances' on Apple Watch world).

Yup; last watch wear here was going to a funeral / wake and wearing a suit a couple of weeks back.  Hate this funeral stuff.

I am not much of a jewelery person though; never have been.

Today I have my smart phone forwards calls to a landline and I shut it off.

Outside on a sunny day I just figure out what direction I am facing and look at my shadow.  During the night look at the stars.

I did get very good and finding a sweet spot with a little dish pointing it to a satellite that I couldn't see with my eyes in the 80's/90's.

Just about two years ago went helping an old friend with the LV wiring in his new unfinished home (set up a 42" panel in a LV section of the basement).  I told him I would work and help him while it was daylight outside.  The home was at the wood studs level.  I did yell at him like I have historically done with my children to quit answering text pages as he started to look more at his phone rather than care about what we were doing.  It was his home and the text pages had nothing to do with low voltage wiring his home.

I went to a big box hardware store this past week at around 6:30 AM in the middle of the week.  I waited for help as I watched a yut gazing and involved with text messages on his phone.  That said I just walked away and looked for someone that was interested in working that morning.

Well might as well also show the short video using the term yutes...
