wc8 ssr reset

Does anyone else have this problem, I have 5 ssr like this one  that power 30a relays (ssr get to hot) and rope lights that work great until the wc8 keeps resetting about 4 times a day. Found out it was a ssr causing the problem, replaced 2 of them ok for a year then another one went (still work just caused wc8 to reset after it comes onfor about 2 min). Also had same problem on another wc8 and wc32 board.

I use the same relays and have not had any problems controlling them with WC. I have noticed that like a lot of other low
cost Chinese devices the specs are not firmly adhered too. They need more then 3V to turn on reliability. I drive mine from
9V and an open collector 7407 and have not had problems. Be sure you are driving them hard enough to fully turn on.

I did have a problem with one project where turning on a fan caused the WC power rail to fall enough so it occasionally
reset. I was running the fan on 9V and the WC on 9v through a series diode to drop the voltage. Eliminating the series
diode solved the problem. Just to be on the safe side stuck a heat sink on the WC 5V regulator.

I have had ongoing random reset problems with one project, the greenhouse controller. Every few months or so I get a random
reset. It does not seem correlated to any activity or temperature and occurs so infrequently that I have been unable to
track down root cause.

UL warns of solid state relay with counterfeit UL Recognition Mark (Release 13PN-52)
Northbrook, IL – Jan. 31, 2014 — The following is a notification from UL that the Solid State Relay identified below bears a counterfeit UL Recognition Mark for the United States and Canada. This Solid State Relay has not been evaluated by UL to any Standards for Safety and it is unknown if this product complies with any safety requirements.
Note that the Model SSR-25 DA relay with the counterfeit UL Mark is similar to Model SSR-25 DA that is authorized to bear the UL Mark. The relay that is authorized to bear the UL Mark is marked “Rated: 25A max.” and “Taiwan Made” on the label, these markings do not appear on the counterfeit product. In addition, the lower right corner of the label recess area is beveled on the relay that is authorized to bear the UL Mark and all corners of the label recess are squared on the counterfeit product.
Name of Product: Solid State Relay, Model SSR-25 DA
Identification: The product bears a counterfeit cRUus Mark and the following:
On the product:
FOTEK
SSR-25 DA
Solid State Module cRUus

If you use SSR, when it does not fully ON, they could introduce power distortion in the power line.  If the power supply can not filter them all out, they can cause jitter in power supply to cause CPU reset.  Maybe check and try a power supply to WC board with an one with better filtering function.

Thanks for the heads up. I assume any electronics I purchase on eBay is counterfeit.

I was actually surprised the Fotek SSRs I have appear to be genuine, or at least better fakes.

In manufacturing WebControl boards, we noticed a lot of so called compatible parts are not fully compatible. Even a MOSFET transistor, we must use original from Fairchild, compatible parts could not function well because when it was ON, it was not fully ON, when it was OFF, it would not fully OFF within the time specification. With SSR, its current is much bigger, so that impact to the power line distortion could be big.

thanks for all the help,my ssr are all fake :angry2:   I might try 7407 to see if that will help. For my pool solar heater pump and pool pump i am using this relay and so far so good (pump only draws 11amps)

I have some of those SSR's. Some are leaky when off. Others when they go bad, stay on 100%.If you have a critical process that needs to turn off, beware.

With newer released WC8 board, it can interface with those 0V trigger low cost relay board.
Too bad there are counterfeit SSR parts out there.  Faked parts should be eliminated from market place.
