Haiku Help - Getting Messages to IPhone when system loses power

Hi

I have HAI OmniPro systems and HaikuHelper on the mac at home.  I cannot figure out how to get the system to send me a notification or email when AC power is lost.  I have a UPS on the router and network gear at home, but I dont have the computer with Haiku Helper on a UPS system.

Can I configure this in Haiku Helper or do i need to change settings in the HAI unit itself.

Any help at all would be most appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking -- but in order for this to work what you need is to have the OmniPro not be on a UPS (it has its own backup), ensure the router is on a UPS (as you already said it is) and ensure that the machine running HaikuHelper is on a UPS (otherwise it can't send out notification when the power fails).

I think what he's looking for is to have the Omni send out the notification, not HaikuHelper. He was just asking where to configure that.

Thanks ... Yes looking for Omni to send out the notification. don't want to buy another UPS for the Mac which is in another room. I have PC Dealer Access program.

Kind of primitive now but it would work.

So would your Arduino/sketch serial device; well and I can do that with the little TP-Link Microrouter running OpenWRT with its tiny 400Mhz CPU and a serial connection powered by my OPII panel right now. (running your program on it would even be better except there isn't much play space on the one I am currently using).  It is smaller than the HAI notification board but would also need an RTC clock for icing on the cake and it doesn't have integration in to the HAI firmware.

If you have you system monitored, often this will be included with the service. For example, NextAlarm monitors your panel with an Internet adapter and they send an email when they loose connectivity. This doesn't necessarily means its a power failure, but its some failure.  Its pretty wishful thinking that your system will be able to tell you reliably that there isn't power, since there are so many pieces that have to be powered for you to receive the message, and this all assumes your Internet is still working during a power outage, which may not be the case.

Also keep in mind, if you have never had a UPS I can tell you they are a pain in the butt. You have to replace their batteries every two or three years, and even then, they are not the most reliable devices. You will often find that they don't work the one time you need them to work.

Yes; Next Alarm here always sends me an email (text) if I disconnect the batterys on the subpanel.  I should put it in test mode but for whatever reasons have not.
