ELK EZ8 install - pulling out my hair with ethernet access

This is my second house and my second Elk install.

I am at the point where I think there is a hardware issue.

I have tried various methods to access the panel through ethernet and it is not working.

I can "see" the ethernet on my network.
I can ping the ethernet.
ElkRP can find it
My ISY 99 can see it.

I cannot connect to it.
I tried direct through my network.
And I made up a crossover cable and connected direct.
Also had a switch laying around, tried that also.

I cannot access the ethernet address direct from a web browser either.

My serial number is a sticker on my panel and I confirmed it with my keypad.
I am using the RP code from the manual.

Are you trying to connect to it using Windows 10?  There is an incompatibility between the SSL/TLS security protocols supported by Win10 vs what the M1XEP supports.  To fix this problem, you need to upgrade the XEP to the latest firmware.

I tried Windows 10, Linux with Wine.
My ISY cannot even connect to it...

Not sure that is the reason.

I guess I try to buy a COM/USB cable now?

If it is the Win10 thing the fixes are to either upgrade the M1XEP firmware or enable the non-secure port. The ISY also requires the non-secure port. Also I am not sure if RP will run under Wine or not.

I am not sure how you would do either an XEP firmware upgrade or configure the non-secure port unless you can get connected initially with RP. I don't see a way to enable the non-secure port via the keypad. You may need to find yourself a machine with Win7 or XP. You could maybe load a copy under a VM.

I tried RP in VM also.
I can see it, I just cant connect.

How can I tell if it is a setting or a password issue?

I have a Windows 7 machine at work I will bring home and try.

The error I get on Win10 is "Could not initialize Secure Connection", I think if it is an access type issue you will see it connect but fail on the "Verifying System Identity" part.

I brought my Windows 7 machine home from work and everything worked perfect.
It is odd that my Windows 7 on Linux box would not work.

I am still showing issues connecting to ElkRP on my windows 10 machine.  Says my code is not valid.
I did all the firmware updates from the Elk site.

That is correct
It is the RP access code.

I can connect all the time with Win 7
I can now connect with Linux box running Win7.
It won't find the device, but it always connects.

I am using the default RP access code.

Linux box running 7? Explain that configuration more....might be going out on a limb, but usually Linux is used as the OS in the boxes instead of driving another OS
