2 Gig Smoke Ring

2Gig Technologies has come out with a product that will interface existing AC powered smoke detectors with their alarm panels.
 
The product is called the Smoke Ring.  Not sure if it is UL listed.

Pretty scary and slippery slope this opens.
 
Only tested with a handful of smoke alarms and the "may work with" opens up a whole realm of liabilities....
 
Only a matter of time until fire alarm monitoring goes the way of security monitoring, either no response, a permit only install or verification required.
 
I can't see this being UL.

How does it work when the power goes out? It says there's a battery backup but if my power goes out, only the smoke detector that detected the smoke sounds out. In order for all my AC smoke detectors to go off at once, the power has to be on.
