Elk M1G firmware 5.3.10

I am currently using firmware version 5.2.10 with the Elk M1G. I have one wireless adapter using a few zones and two smoke detectors. I have learned from Elk today that my wireless smoke detectors are not UL listed when using M1G firmware 5.2.10.

So I am thinking about upgrading to 5.3.10 but would like to hear if anyone has had troubles with this version and from those of you who have success stories too. My system has been performing flawlessly for about a year now and I hate to mess with it but I also know that version 5.3.0 had several fixes for the two way wireless adapter including the UL listing for the smokes.

So does anyone have a good upgrade story(before I dive in)?

Mike.

I haven't tried 5.3.10, but I do see in the release notes that it contains a fix to code that was causing system reboots.

Hey RAL long time.......

One of the previous releases also mentioned the reboots. Do you know where I can get release notes prior to 5.3.10?

I have the release notes for 5.2.10, plus earlier versions. I don't think this file is available on the Elk website any longer.

I've uploaded the file here.

I took the plunge and upgraded to 5.3.10 this morning and soon will see if the system reboots problem is resolved.

Have you looked at the release notes for firmware ver 5.3.10 and did you notice that there are only notes for that single version? In the past Elk would include notes for several previous releases in their notes. I've searched the net and can not find any release notes or even any mention of versions 5.3.x before 5.3.10. I am using 2-way wireless and would like to see the notes and fixes pertaining to it.

Yes, I've noticed that 5.2.10 was the last release where Elk provided a complete, historical list of release notes.  That's why I've held on to that file.

Some releases, like 5.3.0, didn't have any release notes at all. Or I somehow managed to lose the notes, but I don't think that's the case.

I searched around my drives and came up with the 5.3.0 release notes but I'm having trouble attaching the pdf file here.

I uploaded firmware 5.3.0 release notes to the downloads section under "manuals" but it doesn't show up there yet. I'll lwatch and see what I can do to make it available.

I am attaching the release notes named as a .txt file so that the file editor allows it but it is actually a pdf file. See if you can download it and rename it back to a pdf and then open it.

Thanks, Mike!

Mike,

Was thinking of loading 5.3.10 . . . I guess just to feel nice about the UL listing.  However, when I was on 5.3.8 I had the same random reboot issues you described and had to downgrade to 5.2.10.  No problems at all for 13 months on that firmware.  My reboots were totally random and had nothing to do with any user action, armed status or anything.  I was getting about 2 per week for the month or so I was using 5.3.8.

In short, since you updated to 5.3.10, have you had any spontaneous reboots?

Thanks.
