LED coded retrofit lamps starting to fail

It's been about 5-6 years since I have fitted my old car with coded LED (for light computer) warm white LED lighting.  They are much cooler than the old incandescent bulbs except for the last week or so.  Thinking back now seldom have changed bulbs or seen the old incandescent bulbs going bad; seem to alway last a very long time.  I updated original tail lamps with OEM LED lamps from the EU that are functioning just fine today.

Noticed a burning electrical smell inside of the car.  It was so bad one day we could only drive with the windows open.  Initially thought it was a pinched wire from the installation of a window regulator.  I could not source the smell removing the door panel, then the rear seat, rear under deck electronics (thought too it could be the car pc).

After just using my nose sourced it to the two rear inside dual lamps (regular and reading).  It was the LED's and they were getting extremely hot and did have a strong electrical burning smell.  The smell would come and go.

I removed them and reinstalled the old incandescent lamps.

This is what they look like.  Note I only used these type for the rear combo lamps.  Doing a search it doesn't look like they are popular these days.

Been trying to retrofit my front turn signals to LED and have had no luck as the bulbs flicker a bunch with sold LED lamps coded for and with built in resistors for turn signals.

Other options include cutting the power wire to the turn signal and installation of a resistor.

I have read now too that you can purchase a turn signal solenoid made for LED lamps.
