Thermostat Recommendations for Zwave and VRC0P

I currently have two CT100 thermostats which have been fine - I have never been able to get them to report temperatures to the Elk, and all of my programming requires me to do loops that set everything 5 times to make sure the settings actually work 99% of the time, but they have been OK for the last few years. 
 
One of them appears to be broken now - the 4 minute "don't turn back on" protection timer doesn't actually go off after 4 minutes, so my system has everything set correctly from the Elk but it never actually kicks on. I assume a timer chip in the thermostat went bad, and I need to replace it.
 
I am debating between a new CT100, a new CT101 (which is supposedly an updated version), and anything else that might actually be much better. I have read through the forum and see that people recommend the Omnistat2 sometimes, but it's hard to tell if that will actually work right with the basic VRC0P setup (I don't have an ISY).
 
A CT101 is only $45 on Amazon right now, the Omnistat2 is over $150, and so are a lot of the fancier options. Are the more expensive ones worth it? Will the omnistat2 actually report temperatures back to the control so that I can see them in my phone app, or will it be just like the CT100 and not actually do that? Is there a better option for a new thermostat that I haven't found?

I used the TZ45 (from RCS) for a while without any issues.

Did the TZ45 report temperatures back to the Elk without polling? 

So, I never setup Rules in Elk based on temperature, so I'm not 100% certain that Elk was getting that information. However, I used the eKeypad app which provided an interface to the thermostat via the Elk Zwave integration... and the temperature was always displayed correctly there... and I didn't do any polling. So, I assume yes, but not confirmed. 
 
We've since moved and I sold the TZ45 thermostat as I was looking to go with a wired solution at the new house.

Thank you for your answer. I wanted to update the thread in case anyone in the future is looking at the same situation and finds it. 
 
I ended up going with the much cheaper CT101 for $43 - I figured it wasn't worth an extra $120 to to with a TZ45 or an Omnistat2 just to be able to view the thermostat's thermometer reading on my phone. Installing the new one went just fine, I was able to reuse the same wall anchors and much to my surprise the new CT101 is correctly reporting back to the Elk! It must be a bug with the CT100 (I still have a second CT100 which still doesn't report, so it wasn't just a setting issue). 
 
So, if anyone is looking for a cheap zwave TStat the CT101 seems just fine, but the old CT100 is buggy and should be avoided.
