Thanks Pete for info, finally broke down and ordered the HomeSeer S2 Controller to allow Alexa integration. HomeSeer is currently having one of their annual sales and offering 15-25% off controllers and 50% off software.

This is a good arguing point for choosing Omni over Elk for automation. I think that a large company like Leviton is more likely to attract partnerships with other technologies than the Elk.

Mike.

The Homeseer Omni author is running the OmniPlugin with a few Amazon Echos sprinkled around his home.

The Omni Plugin author's family has taken a fancy to the Amazon Alexa(s) in the home.

Here is the configuration page for one unit (UPB) from the Omni Plugin.

The Alexa Amazon interface is included with the Homeseer 3 core (whether Windows or Linux) and very GUI intuitive.

I'd be interested in hearing your feedback how it works out for you.  I used HomeSeer many years ago, but left it because many of the plugins were written by people no longer supporting them. What is scary to me is some of those plugins still seem to be around.  The HAI/Leviton plugin seems to still be in "beta" with UPB and thermostat support "TBD."  Hey, if they can't finish it in 15 years, I have my doubts they will complete it anytime soon.

Yes; there are a few Homeseer 2 plugins still around with no author support.  BUT they work fine with old Homeseer 2 (one author passed away).  For a bit here helped the author's widow with her automation and continuing to sell the plugin.
The Homeseer 2 HAI serial plugin worked fine for me (still works fine with Homeseer 2).

Rob the Homeseer 3 Omni author has been around Homeseer since the early 2000's.

The HAI/Leviton Omni plugin is not in beta and UPB devices worked fine since the beginning of the plugin.

Thermostat functions worked a couple of years ago and continue to work just fine today.

The Omni plugin took some 4 years to go from beta to release.

I know this because I was involved in getting interest in the plugin and getting folks to support the author with donations.

Redid my Omnistat Touchscreen using HSDesigner for my Windows embedded tabletop touchscreens.

Basically went to a simpler design removing the old Omnistat 2000 overlay.

Utilize Intel Atom based 8" tabletops here modded a bit - Seabios (replacing EFI bios), SSD drives, NIC firmware updates, RTC clock installation and wireless.  The devices have built in DECT-Zigbee-Wifi/Blue tooth and here powering the tabletops via POE Gb these days.  These utilize an Intel Atom embedded based tablet chipset.  A bit thick at around 1".   Mainly the cost was relating to the labor of modifications.  (16Gb SSD drives are cheap) and being able to fit the SSD inside over the wireless USB stick.  Audio modifications include tapping in to the HD digital audio with an optical audio jack.

Using Leviton Aux temperature and humidity sensors here plus 1-wire combo sensors and weather stuff (local and via the web).

Installed easily and seems to work well with Alexa. Now if I can figure out the Hometouch Designer software.

The Homeseer Touch Designer software sort of resembles Microsoft Visio first generation.

I use it today for Windows in house touch tablets.  (started with e CE, then XPe and W7 here).

It has evolved much over the years to allow for use of Android / iOS products; mostly smartphones.

It does not work with Microsoft mobile 8-10 and it does work fine with Windows 10 for the desktop / tablet.

The unique feature of the software is that you can create a design and push it towards any of these products.

Over the years with the changes in mobile OS's  / uniqueness of each OS the designer has not been optimized and makes it difficult.

Go slow, baby steps fashion and you should do OK.

In the future (maybe sooner than later) are Homeseer custom designer applications for iOS and Android.
