Firefox Quantum

Updating Firefox here on Linux and it seems a bit faster to me.

For Ubuntu Linux do the following to update

1 - open a terminal session
2 - type sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next
3- sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

If you do not like it then you can:

1 - sudo apt remove firefox
2 - sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:mozillateam/firefox-next
3 - sudo apt install firefox

It is FANTASTIC on the Mac.  My dreams have been answered.  In the last few years Firefox got slower and slower and slower. Everything I did it was always met with a spinning ball for several seconds before something happened.  I DO block many of the ad servers on DNS, like ad.doubleclick.net so I was thinking maybe that was causing the delay.  Don't know. But no problem now.

I did have to update some add-ons that no longer worked. The new ones seem to work as good as the old ones.  Anyway, whatever they did, I like it!!

I have used Chrome and that has always worked and was fast, but you can't expect something made by Google not to spy on you. Safari is decent, but doesn't have all the features of Firefox.

In my book, this is the best new software of 2017.

Yeah here happy with the new Firefox Quantum on Linux and Wintel boxes.

It is faster than the old Firefox.

Here most of the work relating to protection from the Internet is via the PFSense Firewall these days (DNS, Snort, Squid, ClamAV, PFBlocker).

It's definitely faster on Windows 7 and 10. It would be nice if Classic Theme Restorer worked on Quantum (it doesn't). I've had to play with userChrome.css to get it looking the way I like it. Still a great improvement though.

Yeah see that the Classic Theme restorer doesn't work with Firefox Quantum.

There is a GitHub solution that uses the Chrome.css stuff like you mention.

Here just rearranged some stuff such that it looked like my old Firefox settings.
