Elk Keypad Button Lights Update Too Slowly

Trying to figure out an issue with my Elk Keypad buttons where they are taking way too long to update. I use F1 on the laundry room keypad to control my garage door. The light on that button follows an Elk input connected to a magnetic switch on the garage door. That input also sends a signal to my ISY to turn off the main Insteon light in the garage when the door closes.

I know the input is responding quickly because the Insteon light shuts off as soon as the door closes but the F1 LED on the keypad seems to take forever to go off. Is there anything I can adjust to make my keypad LEDs update faster?

Is the insteon light controlled by a rule and are there any other rules executing at the same time?

When an event occurs the elk has to read through the rule list top to bottom to see if that event is going to activate any rule. It takes time to read each rule and evaluate if it needs to take any action. The F-key light just MAYBE doesn't light until the rules are all processed? Maybe move the insteon rule and any others that are executing at the time to the top of the list of rules?

Mike.

Thanks for the suggestion but the logic controlling the Insteon lights is in my ISY-99 so no Elk rules involved.

I'll check that but no other aspects of the keypads; button press response, code entry, etc. are experiencing latency. It is just the update to LEDs on F buttons that is slow.

F Button LED feedback should occur in approx 250-500 milliseconds.
If it's really slow and you have confirmed the sensor feedback is triggering quickly (you could write a voice rule to hear the annunciation compared to the feedback on the F button).

Data Bus resistance issues is a likely cause.
With power off, check data bus resistance. If terminated correctly, 60 - 70 Ohms should read across bus terminals A & B.
If less than 60 ohms there are too many terminating jumpers installed and if the measurement is 120 ohms there isn’t enough terminators installed.

Cheers,
Philip
