I am trying to connect from Elk-RP but the Reboot, Send, and Receive buttons remain inactive (grey) although I have filled out the TCP/IP, Passwords, and Email tabs. The Find and Close buttons are active. My Elk shows up using the Find function.

What am I missing?

Thanks for any help.

It looks like you are not  connected  to the Elk.   Select Connection...Connect and once you are successfully connected you should be able  to send/receive  your changes.

You are correct, wuench, I am not connected, but I thought I had to send the info first to be able to connect.

I get a Failed connection message when I try to connect, either with Connect Non-Secure or not.

I have restarted both the M1 and the XEP.

I had a working setup but I have not used it in 2 years, and now I can't reconnect. The M1 is working fine from the keypad.

Any guideline on what I need to check?

Thanks!

The M1XEP screen is the M1's configuration, the account details is the ELKRP (client config) used to connect, that  is what needs to be correct for you to connect, System URL/IP,  Port, RP Access Code.  If those are correct and you are trying to connect using 2601 and have  old firmware it could be the TLS issue, try 2101 if it is open.

I have tried both 2601 and 2101.

Looking at the Updates available, there are many, and I do not know what to update.

I am running RP 2.0.36

Sorry to be so clueless.

I don't think you are  going  to be able to upgrade via a network connection until you can connect.    It is firmware not Elk RP version that fixes it.   They use an older vulnerable version of TLS that Windows10 doesn't support out of the box.   Do a google search against CT about the TLS issue, my solution was to change  the port  to 2101 but I already had it enabled for CQC.

You can see if 2101 is open with something like telnet or putty.   If it is open, and you set 2101 in your account settings in ElkRP (not the M1XEP page, the front account settings page) then TLS isn't your problem.  It doesn't use TLS at all.

If 2101 isn't open, you may be able to enable older TLS versions in windows  or try something like windows XP if you have it available to get 2101 turned on or upgrade the firmware. Or you can try a serial connection to get things upgraded.

So i understand:
I am not connecting to the XEP, correct?
The M1 is not involved at this point, correct?

Since the RP finds the XEP with an IP address (192.168.1.70) and a port (2601), am I supposed to get anything back if I enter 192.168.1.70:2601 in a browser?

Right you are connected  until you click Connection...connect.   And no you won't get anything in a browser  it is not running HTTP on 2601 or 2101.   It is running telnet, encrypted on 2601 and unencrypted on 2101.

I am able to connect to the M1 directly using the RS232 cable from the XEP, so at least the cable is good.

I have restarted the XEP several times (as well as the M1), reset its address, and un-enrolled, then re-enrolled it.

Could that mean that the XEP board is defective?

Latest in the saga:

I am able to connect using eKeypad. I have complete control of the M1.

Used exactly the same values...

But still no connection from RP...
