PC Access Suddenly stopped working

I have been using PC Access with an Agere modem in Windows 10 for a few years without any problem.  All of a sudden, the modem shows as off-line in PC Access and I cannot connect with the Omni LT board.  The modem shows as working properly in a Windows System check.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Modem might be failing?

Here still have a serial connection set up with the OmniPro 2 panel that works fine with PCA.

Are you needing to use a modem for remote access or does your panel not have Ethernet?

Thank you.  My desktop has the modem and it a long distance from the board, so I have been using it with PC Access for control.  It could be failing though it reports ok and passes all of the checks in the Windows 10 system process.  I do have a laptop with an ethernet port so might be able to set it up that way.  Never tried that.  Any thoughts about how to do that would be greatly appreciated.

Yes related to the serial port you could extend it with cat5e baluns up to 300 feet or so.

If the HAI board you are utilizing has an ethernet port on it then configure that for use.

That said if you have a network in your home then use it.  You can configure the network stuff via the HAI Omni Keypad or PCA serial connection if you want.

Is the board close to an ethernet switch ?

You can even go wireless using a combo mini travel router (1" X 2") and extend the antenna outside of the panel can. Micro USB power to the router would come from the board.

Thanks.  I appreciate those suggestions and I may have to follow one of those paths.  I am still puzzled why my setup stopped working after a few years with no problems and no changes to anything.  The modem seems OK and nothing has been changed on the software.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the modem to no avail.  Have not tried to reinstall the software.  Perhaps, next.

Yes it could be some sort of hardware failure, IE: Omni serial port, wires shorting out, et al or may be a lightning strike?

Best way to test is just take your laptop to the panel and connect it directly via a serial port or Ethernet port.
