    telemarketing

I just signed up for this service -- http://grandcentral.com -- which purports to block "spam" phone calls as one of the features. I don't know how well that part works yet but the rest of the features are pretty cool.

Any new UPB announcements at EHX?

Any idea if existing switches can receive a firmware update for the new features?

    Controlling Thermostats from Elk Keypad

I would definitely see value in this.

    Anyone used a GadSpot DVR?

That is what I am using - Greyfox / OnQ / Legrand - just can't keep up with all the M&A activity. While you can can probably find a better quality camera, these work really well for my needs (and price), and I like that I can plug one in wherever I have a cat5 jack.

    Anyone used a GadSpot DVR?

I'm not using any of Gadspot's cameras, only the DVR. I'm using Grefox cat5 cameras to feed it. Given the price I'm happy overall, but if I had some more $$ to spend for a more robust device I probably would. I'm having two issues that Gadspot support hasn't been able to help with so far that...

Program UPB while plugged into Elk?

If you're able to, it's also nice to rdp from a laptop into a pc with the second interface module. That way you can carry the laptop around to each device as you program it in upstart.

Your thoughts: Elk M1 or HAI Omni Pro II

I'm not doing any IR distribution yet but I do have a GC-100 laying around that I plan on integrating with CQC, which in turn is integrated with the M1.

    Update on new ELK offerings?

While we're on the topic, my biggest wish would be a fix for the UPB link status issue. http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?showtopic=5978

Your thoughts: Elk M1 or HAI Omni Pro II

I made a similar comparison before I ended up buying an M1 because I felt I could get better support as a DIYer.

    ELK Configuration....

What happens if you're out in your garage at 9:59 and your neighbor walks by so you step out to have a two minute chat? <_<

    UPB and halogen noise

I ended up configuring the swtich as non-dimmable, which kind of sucks as far as setting up nice-looking scenes, but I'm still seeing some reliability issues. It seems that maybe 5% of the time I will have to push a button twice or more before it sends out a command. Is it possible the switch...

RCS TR40 DOA or user error?

Thanks TCIII, I did try reversing the clock and data lines but the WDU remained blank with just the backlight on, and I did follow the online instruction guide, and I did also power the control unit from the HVAC (common + return). Any other ideas? Thanks,

need help port forwarding with diginet 4.13

Also make sure that those ports are open at the receiving end. If you're trying to view remotely from work your company's firewall may block some ports.

RCS TR40 DOA or user error?

So I finally got up the guts and the time to try installing the TR40 that's been sitting in my closet for the last few months. I was particularly sensitive about screwing something up and leaving my family without heat so I actually read and re-read the instructions several times before even...

Just an FYI but HomeSeer has ViziaRF In Stock

prsmith, right, since that doesn't control a local load it wouldn't seem to meet my needs unless A) I punched a new whole in the wall to a add a new j-box; somehow I got lucky finding half of a 3-way circuit or some other switch that doesn't need local load control; or C) I shoved some...

Just an FYI but HomeSeer has ViziaRF In Stock

Rupp, how do you tell HS which scene you want? Maybe we just interact with our systems differently but I need the flexibility to push one button for a "Dinner" scene and another button for a "Reading" scene, etc... Are most other folks here taking a different approach?

Just an FYI but HomeSeer has ViziaRF In Stock

I don't understand why there still aren't any good <$100 multi-button keypads with local load control for Z-wave. That's the main reason I went with UPB. Maybe I just don't understand how everyone else is doing scene lighting without poking another hole in the wall. With the SAI US2-40 I can...

    bedside keypad?

I've got a UMPC running CQC on my night stand. Works great to control everything at the times when I'm most lazy -- right as I'm falling asleep. And it's great to check in on the baby and the house with a live feed of the surveillance cameras. Plus, I can check email and read CocoonTech at night...

ELK M1 & RCS TR-40 - How best to get ext temp?

Another thing to consider is that if you're using a PC-based controller integrated with your Elk you can probably get fairly accurate results from a web service. I'm using CQC to obtain the outside temperature from Weather.com and display that data along with the forecasted high and low for the...
