    ELK-M1XRF2G or NX-548e for M1?

Has anyone from Elk confirmed they are dropping support for the NX548E in future firmware releases? I just visited their web site and they still state it is supported: The ELK-M1GOLD and ELK-M1EZ8 support the following wireless receiver manufactured by GE. NX548E 48 Wireless Zones I...

    Getting started in HTPC's

Hey Rupp. I sold all my Tivos and ended up building 3 identical HTPC's running Vista Media Center. One of them happends to run HomeSeer  I have used almost every other solution out there (including Linux varieties) and found the Vista solution to be the best (IMO). For my Samsung...

Any reason M1XEP would go hinky?

I also experienced issues with the Java based vitual keypad application. This application caused my Elk M1EXP to lock up on a fairly regular basis. I don't use it any more and have not experienced a lockup in over a year with heavy usage from HomeSeer and the UltraM1G plug-in. Regards, Ultrajones

    ELK M1, ELK-M1XEP and HomeSeer

I have my Elk M1 connected to HomeSeer via the Elk M1XEP. I started out using just a serial connection, but found it MUCH easier to use the Elk M1XEP because you don't have to shutdown HomeSeer when you want to make adjustments to the Elk M1 configuration using the ElkRP software. You have...

Elk M1 and the GRI 2800 5VDC Liquid Detection Sensors

I have few question regarding the GRI 2800 5VDC Liquid Detection Sensor and the ELk M1 zone connection: 1) Does anyone know if the GRI 2800 5VDC Liquid Detection Sensors is suitable for installing in a sump pump pit to determine if a sump pump fails? It is unclear if these sensors can handle...

    Elk M1 / M1XSP 50.0.26 (Insteon) Issue

I upgraded the firmware on my Elk M1XSP, then reloaded my Insteon device addresses and tested to make sure they loaded successfully. I then shutdown my Elk M1 for 30 seconds, then powered it back on and tested. Success! Thank you for such a quick fix to this problem!

    Elk M1 / M1XSP 50.0.26 (Insteon) Issue

Spanky, thank you for checking into this issue. S1 is in the "1" (up) position as indicated on page 18 of the Elk-M1XSP installation manual. I shutdown my Elk before checking this value and lost the Insteon addresses again. Anything else I should check? Regards, Ultrajones

    Elk M1 / M1XSP 50.0.26 (Insteon) Issue

I power reset my Elk M1 Gold to clear a system trouble by turning off the power swtich, counting to 30, then turning the power switch back on. This action caused all my Insteon addresses to reset back to 00.00.00. This is the third time this has happened to me. Has anyone else experienced...

Elk not always controlling TR16 thermostat

I have seen this issue as well when controlling my HAI thermostat from the Elk M1. As a test, I sent a command to the Elk M1 to turn my thermostat on. The Elk M1 responded indicating the command was successful (as indicated in bold in the TR response). My thermostat fan turned on. 11/26/2007...

Elk M1 and Malibu Outdoor Low Voltage Lighting?

I have a 300 Watt Malibu outdoor low voltage lighting kit and wondered if I could hook it up to my Elk M1. I noticed it has a 3rd terminal for a Photo Control and wondered if the Elk could control it via a relay. Here is the manual for the Low Voltate Photo Contol...

    Elk Internet based monitoring

A word of caution when using the Elk M1XEP to send email: Sending an email alarm notification using the Elk M1XEP is not very reliable. There is no message queueing, retry or logging mechanism so if the email fails (for whatever reason), you'll never know it. Examples of when an email won't...

    Elk M1XEP Email Issues

I purchased the Elk M1XEP in order to send email notifications for certain events that occur within my home. I have found that it is not a reliable means of sending notifications. There is not queueing, retry or logging mechanism so if the email fails (for whatever reason), you'll never know...

    M1XEP went away

Check your network cable too. I had this problem when I first connected my Elk M1XEP. Turned out to be the network cable. Make sure the cable you use is category 5 and is pinned out according to the standard. The balanced pairs should be 1 and 2, 3 and 6. Anything else could result in some...

Elk M1XSP and the RS485 Bus

Thank you to all that replied. I am still confused by the manual referencing the 120 ohm resistor. Is that automatically enabled between the A & B data lines when I terminate a device?

Elk M1XSP and the RS485 Bus

Hello. I am looking to install a second Elk M1XSP to my Elk M1G in order to add Insteon support. I already have one Elk M1XSP installed connected to my thermostat. The RS-485 Data Bus currently has two legs. One going to a keypad and the other going to an Elk M1XSP. Can I simply...
