You cant go wrong with UDI products. Their support is awesome. HS uses Bugzilla but they get backlogged for months and months. HS ignores the customer complaints in the forums and discourages comments about the prolonged wait for bug fixes etc. UDI will listen to their customers in the forum...
HS3 has tremendous potential in my opinion. Its just way to unreliable. After two Hometrollers and various plug ins and other HS accessories I shut it down and moved to the ISY with Zwave. Thousands wasted. Someday HS will get it together but i was tired of the low WAF etc.
HS has very...
Most residential alarm systems and accessories have a 12vdc nominal rating. UL requires that they operate between 80 and 110% of their rating. That is why some mfg shoot for 10.2vdc low battery cutoff. I know of panels the drop out is even lower to 9.5vdc in a few cases. Below that it can be...
Not an all inclusive answer but if you ground the enclosure and maintain seperation of circuits you probably can. Also keep in mind heat etc as the Elk enclosure does not have much ventilation.
The batteries have a max charging current allowed. Someone could connect a 4 ah battery to the PS so that is the max charging current that it can provide for safety reasons. A 12 or 18 hour battery would take a while to charge at that rate and I "think" they specify the 12 ah as that is the...
If your not at home it would be nice to trip the siren and strobes if someone breaks in during a power outage. If its that long odds are that the cops would be to busy to respond but maybe your neighbors would take a look etc. I know my neighbors came over last summer when my alarm went off. ...
If you look at the loading of the panel vs the battery in your proposed setup it would run about 13 hours. The loading of the PS212 vs he battery in your proposed setup would run about 7 hours. So the panel will be on and you will lose everything on the PS212 after about 7 hours. That will...
Only glancing at your numbers quickly but isn't the panel going to be up and running about twice as long as the PS212? That would cause you to have system troubles etc when the battery backup on the PS212 dies around 7 hours into a blackout. (8 ah divided by .61= roughly 13 hours and 12ah...
Mike,
If you need more power than the M1 provides I suggest you locate the PS212 and battery in the main buildings conditioned space. I assume you garage is within a 100 ft or so of the main building. I have done installs upgrading to the larger 28" cabinet and repurpose the 14" for...
I think that once the temperature goes above 35 to 40 and its daylight out that you could shut the heater off. Probably have to turn it on in the evening again.
Most heater cables can be run down into the downspout and in your case the pipe leading away.
I wonder if you could use a photo...
Personnel opinion. I would run at least 18 awg or better depending on distance between buildings and protect it with a Ditek or similar surge suppressor. I have seen voltage drops cause flakiness.
Can you use a water sensor to start a timer that if a freeze temperature sensor activates at the same time water is present then start the heater? Then you can shut it off if freeze sensor is off more than 15 minutes or water timer shuts off.
The timer for the water should be so that any...
Several alarm mfg's have addressable devices that could all be on one pair for burg and another for fire. Each point has a unique address. To me that is the way to go for this project.
I am the opposite. If VR worked well it would be great to have. Family members dont want to scroll though lists to turn a light on etc.
I dont think I would use the camera. Some people complain about the screen resolution. Not sure if that matters to me as long as I can see the cameras...
Its out. Supposedly 100 in stock. FYI no VR (no mic) and no camera if it matters to you.
Looks nice. Love the form factor. Not sure if its one of those things that will improve in 6 months by adding the VR
If you have the ability to program your panel and depending on the panel you have you may be able to specify certain zones not to report if they are prone to false alarms. This way you can still have a CS monitor your system until you can address what is causing the false alarms.
In regards to 1 above that is not how a FACP/System works. A system does not have to be reset to silence the sounders and you would not want that. One of the first things a FD does on arrival is silence the system (so they can communicate) and look for the detector in alarm (if its not...
