New Brultech Energy Monitoring Model (ECM-1240) due in 2009

It may be simpler than I thought at first without the need for reference voltage, after digging around, they probably use a "centered" hall effect sensor to measure current on the CT output, the centered sensors will put out say 0-5vdc with 2.5v being no current, anything above 2.5v is one...

New Brultech Energy Monitoring Model (ECM-1240) due in 2009

I believe it is simpler than that, current transformers have a polarity, that is if current if flowing one direction the output may either be high or low relative to the high or low of the measured current a/c waveform. The Brultech measures voltage through its own power transformer which it can...

Anyone have any experience with DiscountHomeAutomation.com ?

I suppose accusation of violating TOS, playing games, no real support, being a robot could not be interpreted as negative, then I ask why did you even say it to compliment them?

Anyone have any experience with DiscountHomeAutomation.com ?

Wow, so now I am an idiot for purchasing from a store because they have lower prices on the same product, thanks for being clear. I repeat I bought from them and have had no problems, and yet this board is ripping them apart for no apparent reason and now I am getting personally attacked, WTF...

    good network camera.

The 1231 is about the same price and megapixel, still trying to figure out why you would buy a 1431 instead, is the Sony sensor in the 1431 better in low light or something so it worth stepping down to the D1 resolution from megapixel?

Just to let you know I have purchased from them in the past and have been very satisfied. They did have better prices at the time then automated outlet on HAI products. Justin

HAI OPII output state on power cycle?

I can confirm that the 8 relay board for the Omni works great and reliably for triggering a garage door, I did have to set it for 2 sec on as 1 sec was about 95% reliable, at 2 sec it is 100%.

    Rain8Net UPB Sprinkler Controller

I have used this with my OPII for almost 2 years now, works great although I did have it lock up once in that time not responding to commands requiring a power cycle. Just looks like 8 units to the OPII. I also have a rain sensor hardwired to a zone on the Omni to prevent the sprinkler program...

    H@me

I use my iPhone with H@me this way since it's sits on my nightstand charging every night. This has totally replaced the need to use the keypad for both me and my significant other as we both have iPhones. I arm the system every night in bed using my phone. The only issues I have and you may...

    eKeypad Plus

Not exactly, many apps do this, check out mocha telnet lite and mocha telnet. The trick is that Apple won't accept "demos" or "Trialware" which is a judgement call by them, but basically if you make a free "lite" version it must be a fully functional app with no nag screens or timeouts, but it...

    Resilience

You can, but it's not as nice or simple as one of these:x10 floodlight and if like me you have 5 floodlights on one ciruit it's more difficult to control them individually since one switch turns them all on/off. Also besides a upb floodlight how about a upb ceiling fan control as well?

    Resilience

From what I understand this is not true and was actually very confusing when I first setup UPB with my HAI system. UPB security is actually not any better than x10, it has more network ID's so it has a less likelyhood of conflict with neighbors, but the password is only used for device setup not...

Schlage announces first Z-Wave deadbolts and locks

I would consider this, I know some have modded other keyless entry locks with batteries to hardwired, it would just be nice if they offered a model designed this way, it's great if it notifies you of low battery and that it may last two years, but I would rather do the work up front once and...

    Typical burglar?

I didn't mean to sound dismissive of the "volunteered" issue either, the FBI does not have the authority to make it mandatory, but the states themselves do and most state have a UCR program and about half the states it's "mandatory", but even if it's not mandatory many times grant monies are...

New software solutions for the ECM-1220.H

Yes RS-232 is a point to point connection only, but Serial to Ethernet devices usually allow multiple connection at once multiplexing the data down to the one serial port just like this tray app, the virtual com port driver is just a thin wrapper over a tcp/ip port. In many cases it easier to...

New software solutions for the ECM-1220.H

If it had an exposed rs-232 port, but currently they only sell a usb or ZigBee version, internally it's an rs-232 port hardwired into the usb or zigbee interface, they mentioned doing a"limited run" with a real rs-232 port exposed.

New software solutions for the ECM-1220.H

Looks like they tried to kill two birds with one stone, 1 provide a way to access the device via TCP/IP and 2 simplify the protocol. I agree it is strange, if the device had this simplified protocol on the serial interface all this software would need to do is proxy it out over TCP/IP, on top of...

New software solutions for the ECM-1220.H

From firedaemons site: "The System Tray is another sticking point. When an application runs in the System Tray, it initially binds to it (so it can display the icon, menus etc.). If the System Tray is not present (i.e. at system boot) this binding process might fail." So it depends on the app...
