My ELK M1 Gold and CADDX NX-448e have arrived. A few questions:
1. I will only have keypad 1 wired to the data bus. I need to jump J3 on the control and according to the manual, jump J2 on the keypad. Sounds simple enough - I use the 2 jumpers included. Correct?
2. The W035A harness has 5...
Why would I ever want the 75? Everyone in my house speakes English.
I want to put a second speaker in the lower level of the house. AO has the 73 for about $9. Do I need an expansion module or can 2 speakers be directly connected to the M1?
I am awaiting the arrival of my ELK M1GSYS4 kit. It comes with the ELK-73 speaker.
What is the difference between the 73,74 and 75 units? The 73 has 2 wires and the 74 has 3 wires. Why?
It is because of the insight and information I received on this forum that I placed an order yesterday for an ELK M1GSYS4/CADDX NX-448E wireless system with Martin at AutomatedOutlet. Martin had everything in stock and in fact it was shipped same day.
I'm as happy as a pig in ... whatever. I am...
Wow, I can't wait to get started. I'm going to email Martin today to place an order.
I'm a member of quite a few forums, including the giant AVSforum. This forum has been incredible in providing quick and excellent information and insight. I am going to keep a journal of my experiences...
I would like to thank everyone for the insight on vendors. I did get an ELK quote from Martin that is pretty good (about $115 higher than the lowest quote and about $120 lower than the highest quote) but from what you are all saying, I can expect excellent technical support and customer service...
I assume then that the keypad and the system board have RJ-45 8-pin standard Ethernet connect terminals. Do I need the M1 data bus hub in order to use Cat5 cable to connect the keypad?
I will be ordering the ELK M1GSYS4 kit and the CADDX NX-448 wireless interface.
How does the ELK keypad connect to the system - wires or Ethernet cable? or which way is best? There are already wires running from my old system keypad in the foyer down to the system board in the basement. Should I...
Came across ASIHome on the Internet with really good prices on ELK hardware. Anyone have any experience with them? However, I have no problem paying a little more to be able to trust a vendor and know that I'm getting good customer service (also lets me sleep at night).

I submitted an email request for a quote on your web site.
Thanks
I feel better already jumping into the DIY installation of an ELK system.
What speaker comes with the M1GSYS4? Is it only a siren? Do I need a separate voice speaker or do I need to replace the included speaker with one that handles siren and voice? Does anything need to be added to the M1GSYS4 to handle a voice or combination speaker?
I am about to place an order for an ELK/CADDX wireless system. If I forgo the Ethernet interface to keep the initial cost down, I assume I will connect my PC (which does have a 9-pin Com port) directly to the ELK. How is the programming software in this case? I assume you create the...
I am about to place an order for a wireless ELK/CADDX system and came up with the following hardware list:
ELK M1GSYS4
NX 448E 48-zone wireless board
NX 469 enclosure for wireless board
W035A connect cable for NX 448E to ELK
NX 454 White micro door/window unit
ELK M1XEP Ethernet interface
ELK...
I expect to order my ELK/CADDX hardware tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a reputable Internet ELK dealer with good prices? My usual PC sources do not carry the ELK hardware. I expect to spend some bucks here and I would like to deal with a company with good customer service.
My wireless devices are 14 years old and total clunkers requiring a 9-volt battery that does not last 1 year. The company that made my old system is long gone. The wireless units go in the trash. I would use the CADDX NX-448E 48-zone wireless board with the ELK and use the CADDX micro NX-454...
I need to replace an old wireless stand alone security system. I'm torn between ELK system with CADDX wireless vs. the less expensive CADDX system/wireless. I currently have ZWave light switches under control of CQC. I know CADDX does not support ZWave. I would like my security system to control...
