    4 channel DVR PCI card

I've decided go with wired security cameras and after browsing the forums the camera is just about a done deal - Vitek VTC-LED667 HRCB which I believe is the model IVB is using. I will have 3 cameras eventually - 1 out front and 2 out back. Now I need a 4 channel (I do not think 3 channel cards...

    Wireless security camera and interface

Now that my Elk M1 / CADDX is up and running I would like to install 3 outside wireless cameras. I currently own and am experimenting with HomeSeer, Main Lobby and CQC and have not decided as to which combination will be the HTPC/Automation platform. I would like to capture the video from the...

    Elk M1 Tasks and Rules?

Not sure just how the Elk M1 Task setup works in connection with Rules. The Task screen simply assigns a task name and a voice description. The Rules THEN clause can activate a task. Where is the definition of a task programmed? Suppose I wanted to set up a task named "Sunset" and do certain...

    Anyone using iPronto?

I am thinking about the iPronto as a control unit replacing my Pronto TSU3000 since it has an Internet browser. Would that not mean that I could control Homeseer and my Elk M1 (using the XEP interface) from the iPronto? Are there any other such units (I found the RC9800i at less cost but am not...

    Success! Finally! Thanks all!

It took 3 weeks and a lot of help from the members of this forum as well as Elk to repair my M1XEP after I killed it updating the firmware, and now my Elk M1 / Caddx / ZWave / Ethernet system is totally operational. My last headache was a wired smoke alarm with an internal relay. Thanks to all...

Wiring ESL 449CSTE Smoke detector to ELK M1?

I am having a difficult time wiring the 4 wire ESL smoke detector 449CSTE (with relay) to the ELK M1. The enclosed file is basically the only document to deal with the 449 CSTE. The ELK reports Fire Trouble - an open circuit. I connected a 2200 ohm resistor to the connections in the diagram...

    Smoke detector wall mount?

I am mounting my ESL wired 449CSTE smoke detector on the wall rather than the ceiling. Does it make any difference which way is up? There is an arrow on the circuit board and when I position the sensor with the arrow up, the slats on half of the cover are vertical on the left. I can mount it...

Elk M1 and CADDX wireless motion detector

I would like to know when a motion detector detects motion even though the system is not armed. The CADDX motion detector sends out a signal every 3 minutes as motion is detected. I looked at the Elk rule programming events but do not see an event for motion detection (again when not armed)...

Be careful updating Elk M1XEP FW to 1.2.2

Decided to update my M1XEP to the latest firmware 1.2.2. My M1XEP is on its way back to Elk. The Boot firmware updated, then the XEP lost connect and nothing (including an hour on the phone with Elk) would bring it back.

    Elk area account numbers?

My Elk system has a single area 1. If I only want to report zone alarms, I assume I put the monitoring company account number in the area 1 account field - the only problem is that the field is 6 digits and I have a 7 character monitoring account - 5 digits and 2 characters. Am I missing...

    Monitor Station Account Code

Where do you set up the account number for the monitoring station? I went into telephone 1 to set the phone number. The area account number field is only 6 digits. My account number is 7 chars. Resubmitted under Security Forim where it more logically belongs. Sorry.

    Location of motion detector

The instructions for my new CADDX wireless motion detector say to mount on an outside wall looking it. That is interesting. My old system (professional installation) had the detector on an inside wall looking out towards the door and windows. I guess if I mount it on the outside wall at a...

Connect 4-wire smoke detector to Elk

I have a fairly new 4-wire (red, green, black, yellow) smoke detector left over from my old system - no documentation - that I want to connect to my Elk M1. I see on page 6 of the installation manual that a 2200 ohm resistor needs to be across the terminals that go to a zone. What is the...

    M1 control screw-down terminals for RS-232

OK, I'm a purist. Did your M1 control come with screw-down terminals to screw-down the RS-232 9-pin connector? Mine did not so the 9-pin connector from the M1-XEP is just sitting in the socket.

    UNBELIEVABLE?

I have been trying to get my new ELK M1G to dial out for 2 days. I triple checked all wire connections including the RJ45 cable connect to the Elk (Grey-R1, Brown-T1, Red-RING, Green-TIP) and measured the voltage on the phone company terminals. There is an old adage - check the obvious first...

    Phone line TIP/RING voltage?

Before I send my ELK control back due to the dialer not working, what is the voltage reading I should get between TIP and RING from the phone company?

    ELK dialer 1130 comm trouble?

According to one of Murphy's Laws - If things are going OK, you have obviously overlooked something! I set up a test to dial out when zone 17 becomes unsecure. I used the rules to dial out as a voice call. I double-checked my RJ31X jack - the house phone works fine. I stored the phone number...

ELK ZWave M1XZW Cat 5 connect to data hub?

I'm connecting my ELK ZWave M1XZW interface via a Cat 5 cable to the data hub. I assume that the Cat 5 wire connections are the same as for the keypad: +12 - Brown "A" - Orange and Green "B" - White/Orange and White/Green "Neg" - White/Brown Blue and White/Blue not used

    WOW! It works!

I cannot tell you how anxious I was as I prepared to initially power up my new ELK M1G, M1EXP Ethernet interface, M1DBH data hub, and CADDX NX448E 48 zone wireless interface. I ran Cat 5 bulk cable to the keypad so I had to put on a RJ45 end to connect it to the data hub. I also ran bulk Cat 5...
