From reading the other thread it looks like the issue was fixed. I was neither aware of it nor experienced it. The latest release seems very stable.

FWIW, I use heat detectors in garages, workshops, and kitchens. I use smoke detectors in living areas, i.e. bedrooms, hallways.

Elk/Next Alarm - Fire - Delay for reporting or call to verify?

Remember anything you do decreases your life safety and increases emergency response times. Have you thought about a heat sensor as opposed to a smoke detector in those troubling areas?

Confused by EOLR diagram in M1 docs

    Securing a sliding patio door?

My .02. I don't put glass breaks on any of my customers 24 hour zones. I have found that depending on the glass break, the dishwasher, clanging of silverware, the gardener, all cause them to go off. It wouldn't be fun having to abort a false alarm two or three times a month.

I don't work for ELK but I have faith from what I have seen for many years that they will be around for the long...

    ELK Burglar interior zone question

I disagree. Force armable keeps the zone bypassed until that zone becomes secure and then that zone is made active It does not affect the whole area it only affects zones. Why don't you make the gun safe zone a Burglar Perimeter Instant force armable. That way you can leave the safe open...

    ELK Burglar interior zone question

I am a bit confused but I think what you are looking for is a force armable zone definition. See page 32 of the M1 installation manual.
