Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

RadioRa 2 main repeater connected to your house's wireless network. at least one RA maestro device controlling a load iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch Do you have an iPhone, iPad or iTouch? I could whip up a quick GUI and let you control my house.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

I was looking at UPB for some yard lighting/receptacle control. There are 3 lighting subpanels in the yard seperated by 600' or so controlling many receptacle rocket posts. Too great a distance for RF and trenching in control lines wasn't an appealing option. I have not used UPB yet so I...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

BTW, iPhoners. I have mentioned CommandFusion a few times. CommandFusion iViewer is a free app. The free app has limited functionality but presents enough functionality to give you a taste of what it can do controlling your RA lighting system. It has a free download GUI builder. If you...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

I'm sure they are more expensive but... (and I'm suprised this didn't occur to me earlier) A hybrid keypad replaces a regular keypad AND a maestro. If you cut a bigger box as you say you still would have to purchase both items to perform the same function. I have not priced a hybrid yet but...

    Lutron Sivoia QED integration

Few more ?'s. If you do already have QED shades, how are they powered? SVQ-10-PNL (10 shade power panel) SV-100SF-PI (100va plugin transformer) SV-100SF-JBOX (single shade plugin transformer) XV-50SF-PI (50va plugin transfomer)

    Lutron Sivoia QED integration

Like Herdfan said, what are you trying to integrate with? Is there an existing homeworks lighting control system? Do you already have these shades installed? If so, are they RF shades? If you do not have the shades installed/purchased I would use the Lutron RF QS Shades and a RA2 main...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

Ah yes, some electronics must be hidden from family members especially small children. You never know when they will decide to see if the new smaller RA2 repeater will fit down the toilet unlike the older large RA chronos you had to replace when they decided to see if it would fit down the toilet.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

No RA does not have that. I can see the value in it and will forward that product to my Lutron rep. Cheating w/ a switch isn't the same as you suggested. The most obvious reason... a switch can't handle an entire 20amp circuit.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

Ahh kill those parasitic loads! Yes, you could use a neutral wire RA switch for that purpose. On a side note I just completed the installation of 14 Lutron QED shades (the apartment I was working on now has 21 powered shades). I do enjoy working with this stuff.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

Could you be more specific on what you mean by "inline"? For switching loads greater then the limit of a RA switch we use lighting contactors. The RA switch only has to pass enough current to energize the coil in the contactor to engage the switch with the contactor handling the actual load...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

I think so. But I am Lutron HW and RA certified so weigh my opinion with that in mind. In my experience (albeit some of the competing systems I have never seen action) RA is 100% reliable which is what is really required of a lighting system. Lighting in a home is mission critical. If the...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

For receptacles I use the RRD-3LD-XX tabletop lamp dimmer. I hide these. I don't care to see this particular device since the attached lamp is integrated via either RA keypad or my iPhone remote control (via CommandFusion). I would really like to see Lutron come out with a direct...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

RA2 is in a completely different frequency spectrum. The spectrum Z-wave operates in permits continuous transmissios from cordless phones, wireless routers ect. Ra operates in a frequency range where brief low power transmissions are all thats allowed. The white paper on RA RF is here...

BTW I believe the hybrid keypad will be released in june.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

That is correct. Keypads require a neutral wire! The hybrid keypad will be able to control a local load so it is a direct replacement for a switch/dimmer. I will check the specs on the Hybrid but I assume that it does not require a neutral wire (don't quote me on that yet though) since it...

Controlling a light switch, no neutral

I believe your right Mike. A two wire switch/dimmer has to pass trickle current through the fixture to establish a complete circuit for self power. It definately leads to some undesired effects with flourescent lights.

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

Yes, RA has dimmers available with or without a neutral. Neutral wire dimmers have the letter N in the product code. The RA switch requires a neutral. RRD-6D (two wire 600w dimmer no neutral) RRD-10D (two wire 1000w dimmer no neutral) RRD-10ND (1000w dimmer w/ neutral) The difference...

Ra2 is a game changer - i have the hook up

I have replaced alot of insteon devices/systems, their newer stuff might be better but having seen so many failed devices I soured on them. I'm not a huge fan of mesh networks where control packets make multiple hops across devices and many operate in a crowded frequency range. In a mesh...
