Thanks RAL. That was what I was suspecting. I have spare relays on my Elk so I will use them. Sure glad I chose an NVR with inputs and outputs. This combined with the Elk any combination is possible
I am planning on using my outside motion detectors (NO contacts) to trigger my new Dahua NVR (There are 8 NO inputs) and my Elk M1 zone input. Both inputs have a ground, so I imagine they will share the same ground. Am I looking into problems (interference, impedence) by doing so??
Ahh now. this is getting interesting. Thanks Mikefamig. All kind of switches. most likly better than the ones sold at Home depot. So there are still some mercury sump pump switches. even have the choice of NC or NO...
More options.
I'll look into these other switches. The float switch is Inside a septic tank pump station which is corosive. Even the wire connections need to be sealed or outside of the tank. This is the main reason I went with this type of switch. Furthermor they have plenty of space to...
Thanks for the feedback. I'lll verify the cabling and sump switch with a multimeter (not the most pleasant place to play in!!). I will go with relays to isolate from my Elk zones. I probably should have done this day one.

I will look into replacing the switch. But as I said I have 2 similar setup with the same switch and the same intermitent problem (septic tank and a pumping station).
I think I will add a rule that will require at least 5 continuous seconds of "fault" before taking action. I hope that the...
Hi RAL
To answer your first question the float switch connected to the ELK is independant to the float activating the pump (2 different switches). So the switch connected to the ELK is set up at a level higer and should only trigger if the level gets too high (pump fail or AC outage). When...
Ok, I guess I was not clear
There is no 120 volt involved. I have cut the 120 volt connector and simply use the switch as a Normally Open (NO) connected directly to the zone of the Elk. I am doing this for 2 zones (2 switches). As for the ground wire of the switch I simply ignore it as it...
HI,
On my Elk M1 I am using 2 zones as monitoring points for my septic tank and pump station levels. For each zone I installed a sump pump switch that is NO (see picture). When level gets too high I get my "close" status and and alarm condition. All works well except that I occasionally get...
Good point for the compatibility. Hmmm. Resolution says their RE108 translator (wired to Wireless) is compatible with the ELk M1XRFEG. But when I look at the ELK documentation for the M1XRFEG it has a list of the compatible Reolution products, but the RE 108 is not there.
Same thing...
Ok. So i did a bit of search in the last fewdays. I will go with GE for wireless and in the garage i will get a Resolution 8 zone wired to wireless tranciever. Didnt even know this existed. I will stick the transceiver up in the garage so hopefully the wireless range will not be an issue
Interesting ideas
I am in a rural environement. It is a house on a lakeside.The garage is on my other lot across a street(about 150 feet between the 2)
The UPB UMI option works. I did some tests and actually put a UPB i/o device and did some testing. But I doubt of the reliability as it is...
Thanks for the comments!
drvnbysound, you are confirming my concerns. My house is all wired on my elk m1. I built the garage (accros the street) and did not run a cable to my elk panel when I had the chance. I did however run a 220 volt cable buried between the house and the garage So the...
I need to expand my Elk M1 Wireless as I want to connect my garage to my home system. The garage is about 150 feet from the house. I am trying to decide between one of the 3 following as reciever/transceiver:
* Elk (bi directional) M1XRFTW
* GE M1XRFEG
* Honywell M1XRF2H
The 3 are...
I am running on 5.2.8. My time got incorrect on March 8 and (off 1 hour) and today got automatically corrected. Can anyone confirm if 5.2.10 has fixed the problem as Elk mention that they have done more fixes in this release
This should never take that long to fix. Maybe Elk is considering...
This time of year again when we move our old watches one hour ahead and the other electronic stuff does it automatically......... Well .........it should be automatic except our Elk M1. 3 years later and it did the same as the original post. I have a rule sending me an email every day at 6:00...
Absolutely correct. I chirp the siren when someone gets close to my boat when the alarm is activated. For the remote control of out 2 just wanted to know if it was normal behaviour of not being able to control. As I said the idea was to do it for a final test. I even tried it with a task...
I am coming to this conclusion. But I can trigger output 2 from a rule... whenever F3 turn output 2 on for 5 seconds.... I guess I just want to know if it is normal behaviour as I went through the M1 manual and saw noting on this
