Hauppauge has finally released a way to use the secondary A/V inputs on some of the WinTV-PVR cards. I'm not sure when it first came out, but I just noticed it (thanks to www.htpcnews.com).

Many of the WinTV-PVR cards have a white header which has composite, s-video, and audio connections. These show up in many programs but there hasn't been a convenient way to use them. These are in addition to the connectors on the back of the card. With these, you can have two separate A/V inputs connected to your card.

Hauppauge has released a bracket (uses a PCI slot) which has these connectors:

www.pcalchemy.com expects to be carrying them soon, as well.

If you want to make your own, the pinout is available here (from the
www.shspvr.com forum):

Does this mean I will be able to view two cameras with my WebCamXP software if I get a PVR-150 with this special cable adapter?

It basically works like an a/v switch. On the PVR150, you will have 3 inputs: a/v on card, cable tuner, and the extra a/v input cable. You can choose one of them at a time.

If your software allows you to switch between them, you shouldn't have any problems.

Also, you should make sure that the card as the header for this cable. I believe some variations may not.
