Best webcam for travelers?

What is the best webcam for doing videoconferences back to my family during my long business travels? I'll be using a laptop, so a webcamp that attaches to the laptop LCD would be better in my case, but my family will be using a desktop, so there is more freedom for better quality there. Also, my camera can have a narrow focus (just my face, but it will be better if the camera in the other side has a wider focus so that I can see mom + 2 kids at the same time.

I was loking at the logitech, but they have several models. Any experience here in the forum?

I purchased the Creative Labs webcam notebook camera with clip (Link) a while back when they had a rebate for it, and although it doesn't compare to the normal webcams I have in picture quality, for what you need it for, I think portability would be the biggest factor.

I have a laptop setup in my kitchen with a camera pointing at our back door attached to it under the cabinet and I bought it to replace the current one as it could sit attached to the laptop. I was very disappointed in picture quality, and ended up putting the old one back up.

My purpose was much different than yours is, and I'm still planning on utilizing mine possibly the same as you plan on doing.

Good luck fellow road warrior!

At 1.3Mb and $99 the top of the line Logitech advertise a lot of bells and wisthles. I wonder if they really deliver better (for the price difference).

THe Logitec Webcam pro...2000 I beleive, IS worth the price difference. It's around $99 but the picture quality rivals a true video camera. Works well in all sorts of lighting conditions. It is by far the best web cam I have used. The lower end ones will always give you very fuzzy and gray/low contrast video.
