Please read THIS General CES 2006 Update Disclaimer FIRST:
Met with Michael Arendale, founder of Casa Works.
They offer a client (XP) touch screen which knows how to interface with the XML web interface of their main universal interface called the HMS-P01-FS. This interface has an imbedded web server and has drivers for a variety of home automaton and security devices (such as Honeywell, Caddx, etc...). All of these systems can then be connected to this device via their conventional serial or USB interfaces. This box then "dishes" up this device via TCP/IP over the network.
Now you can integrate security, HVAC, lighting, and cameras with this interface box with no programming.
The controlled device has to have a component controller driver that can be downloaded via firmware from their web site.
They also have a main set top box called the HMS-T01 which can distribute audio and video which talks over IP to his touch screen. All of this hardware has to have the Casa Works software installed. They have an open architecture system and sell to dealers who they support (add the proper control software into their framework so the dealers can integrate their own systems).
They will also offer ZLine which is their own manufactured ZWave to USB transceiver, with a software PC based simple lighting control system.
They will offer this software and ZWave USB interface with some lighting switches as a packaged deal. This software will then offer simple lighting control including scene lighting, maros, and timers/schedulers and should start in the $500 price range.
Different packages will support UPB and Insteon lighting products.
