ELK M1 Gold - newbie

I just picked up a used M1 off of Ebay - no key pads. I am trying to setup the Elk for use with HS. Is there a way of setting up the Elk with out a keypad? When I boot the panel it says that it is armed, please disarm. I tried connecting the RP sofware to it, but the panel bawks at the remote code - I tried the default one 246801. So I pulled the battery, the backup battery and the power, let sit for 15 min. and discharged all of the caps. Re started the panel and I still can not get the remote code to work :)

Does anyone have an idea of where I went wrong? or Must I have a keypad instaled to operate? I was hoping to only ue my touch screens with HS.

Thanks,

Skybolt,

Welcome to the forums!

The M1 Gold usually comes with a keypad as standard equipment if purchased as a kit. My initial guess is that the previous owner may have changed the access code (a good idea).

I'm not sure what the method is to reset the M1G back to factory defaults if the code is lost. Can the person you purchased it from on eBay provide you with the code?

I just found this form a previous post a while back:

Go into installer programming and goto Globals 07, menu 45, enter 99 to reinitialize the EEProm to factory defaults.

RP code should be defaulted.

If you can not get into installer programming mode, then you have a problem

It might help but you need a keypad to do it.

HoustonFirefox - "Can the person you purchased it from on eBay provide you with the code?" - I thouht of that to, he stated it was defaulted befopre he shipped it. But I did not buy the keypads with it, as I was hopping to only use the IP module and my existing touch screens...

Digger - Thanks for the reply, I did not see any of those options uner the globals tabs. I looked under them all???

I looks like I might need to buy a Keypad to default it with the dealer code??? could this be true?

Thanks,

All the programming is held in EEProm memory, so powering everything down does not reset the programming.

With a keypad you must know the installer code to get to the Global reinitialization selection.

With ELKRP you must know the ELKRP access code. Default is 246801.

Otherwise, return to factory for reseting and hope the Anti-Take Over bit is not set.

Thanks, Spanky - I am going to contact the seller again.
