Why do I see "FAIL TO COMMUNICATE" in my keypad? How do I get rid of it?
Thanks in advance.

Check the white and green wires to the keypad for an open or a short. They keypad is not talking to the M1.

Actually I also believe you can see if the keypad is "registered" with the Elk M1 via the configuration software.
He doesn't but he does.where does he say he has an elk?
This is why they pay me the big bucks here on CT, intuition! (I can fix a problem before you even state what it is)where does he say he has an elk?

on the elk, the "FAIL TO COMMUNICATE" on a keypad indicates a phone fault. it tried to call your alarm company (for a periodic report or something) and couldn't get through. update elkRP to force it to do another periodic report and make sure the panel can call the alarm company
