Garage Door Delay Time

Hi

Will this setup work on the M1.

I have ZN10 configured as my garage door - burglar entry/exit 2, force armable.

If the ZN10 is not secured while arming it wont be made active till the door is closed, but what happens if the timer expires before the ZN is secured??

I assume the system will alarm.

What do you guys use a workaround to allow your garage door to be included as a burglar type and still allow some type of entry delay when returning home to disarm the alarm.

I currently have a rule that will close the door 2mins after the system is armed if left opened, and the exit 2 time is set for 3mins. so in theory it should be fine???

Thanks

Anthony

IIRC, there were alot of different configs for this, search around and you will find a few threads about it. In my case, I just leave it as a non alarm zone. The kids have it open and closed all the time, its just not worth the hassle to include it in the security.

Hi Anthony,

"I assume the system will alarm. "

No, the system will arm and bypass the force arm zone. The GD will be added into the secure zone when (if) you close it.

"allow some type of entry delay when returning home to disarm the alarm"

In your case you will have entry time #2 to disarm the system before an alarm

I don't care for any automatic closing of the GD. I use a wireless keyfob to operate the door and to arm/disarm the system. If you open the GD by some other method, you need to program the #2 entry time to allow sufficient time to enter and disarm the system.

Are you indicating although the exit timer has expired the system will not alarm because the zone is also set as forcable?

Thanks

The best thing to do is set the garage doors for Force Armable in the zone definition. That way if they are open you can arm the system. If the doors are open during the exit time they will be taken out of circuit until you close the doors, even if the exit time has expired. This gives you plenty of time to get in the car and back out of the garage without worrying about the Exit Time expiring.

I placed a strobe in the garage to remind me that the Entrance Time was counting down after I opened the doors coming home. I have a bad habit of forgetting to disarm the system when driving into the garage. I could auto disarm when the garage door operator keyfob is used, but have not written the Rules for that yet.
