hard wired control of sony TV (and other equipment

Most AV control are done using IR. Is there a way to do (from PC) to AV equipment, esp. sony TV, in my case, a KDF-E50A10, control via a hardwired connection? Sony used to have control-S, control-A etc serial controls. But those do not exist anymore. Does the IEEE port on the TV support control commands beside AV?

depends on the device. There is also hard wired IR.
Look on the back and advise on what control jacks are there.
The best for control over the Sony line has been the SLinke which is now out of production. There were some posts on Homeseer forum of a guy building a home grown Slinke. Don't think that project is done yet.
