  • In Control Panel double click "Systems"
  • Select the "Network Identification" Tab
  • Click "Properties"
  • Enter a unique name for your computer
  • Click the "Workgroup radio button"
  • Enter a name which both computers will share (i.e. MSHOME)
  • Click OK to exit "Properties"
  • Click OK to exit "Systems"
2) Configuring Windows XP
  • Click start
  • Right click on "My Computer" and click properties
  • Select the "Computer Name" Tab
  • Click "Change..."
  • Enter a unique name for "Computer Name:"
  • Enter a name which both computers will share (i.e. MSHOME) for "Workgroup:"
  • Click OK to exit "Changes"
  • Click OK to exit "Properties"
3) Setup folders to share
  • Right click on any Folder, Drive, or Printer Icon and click Sharing in the menu.
  • For Folders and Drives click the radio button that says "Share this folder" then click OK
  • For printers click the radio button that says "Shared As" and click OK

4) View folders from remote PC
  • Click the "My Network Places" icon from your desktop
  • Click the "Entire Network" icon
  • Click the name of the computer you want to view shared folders from (Be patient it take a minute for the computer names to show up for the first time)
