Martin, Looks like smart home is carrying the Insteon Devices now. Does this mean you are getting read to release them as well?

Also I do not see a computer interface on SmartHomes page, any idea what is up with that?

Here's the link to the announcement here on Cocoon

Insteon Ships! (By Electron)!

Yes, we'll certainly have them. The first devices weren't supposed to be released until the 25th. I'm checking the status now.

Thanks,

Martin

OK, here's the deal. Those products weren't supposed to go on the site until next Wednesday but someone put them on early. The products won't be shipping from Smarthome until Friday.

We're hoping to have our inventory here by next Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

We'll be adding them on the website in the next day or so.

Other Insteon news - looks like the switches might be coming out a month early - probably June.

Martin, hate to hit you wilth all the questions, but you of course seem to have someone on the inside ;)

Any idea about a computer interface? I see smarthome is offering a starter pack, and a few other items, no mention whatsoever of a computer interface. Is this also, like the light swithches, due to be out later?

The computer interface has been out for 2 months, as part of the SDK. I am sure it is just a matter of a short time before they get a SKU for the unbundled computer interface. What do you need the computer interface for? <rant> HST won't say one bleeping word about their plans for Insteon </rant>

HST seems to be ignoring the issue. It has been asked about in MANY threads over and over again......

HST posted the other day that they will support Insteon. On the chat last night it was said that that support would only be for HS2.0

Man you guys are ruthless. You want HS 2.0 You want UPB interfaces. You want Insteon interfaces. You want it in HS 1.7. You want it in HS 2.0. There are only a few guys working this HS code base so give them a break. I do this day in and day out and porting from VB/C++ to .net isn't easy let alone adding new functionality. Where HST is failing is in stating the facts. We are NOT going to be adding any new functionality to HS1.7 and we will get UPB, Insteon, etc when we get the port done and beta tested.

SmarthomeJohn was in the chat last night and he said the Switchlinc dimmers and relays would be available June 15th!

David, glad to hear it! I am pretty psyced about Insteon and it's abilities.

Rupp, wow!

Mabey we should just all keep quiet, stop talking so much on the boards, and stop letting HST know what we would like to see in future products and just hope that it happens at some point. Honestly, who are we, as mere users, to ask for something in a product that we have invested a lot of money in.

On the other hand, HST has always had an open ear to the HA community and many of the additions, enhancements and such that have gone into new version, after new version, including 2.0, are a direct result of the requests and feedback.

I think Rupp is right,

We all expect HST to come out with a reliable bug free version 2.0, with all the features we could dream of. How can anyone expect them at the same time to keep updating 1.7.

HST has never really dissapointed us, so I am going to sit back and have a little patience.

And I don't think HST decided to rewrite HomeSeer for .NET because it would be fun. I feel the market, with all of the new devices and protocols, outgrew the version 1 architecture.

In other words, IMHO, one reason version 2 exists to more easily support Insteon, ZWave, UPB, ZigBee and their successors.

JohnWPB,
I wasn't talking about the general inquiries, I was gearing my points more at the constant barrage of all most rude inquiries. The HST guys can only do so much.

But apparently answering a customers question in under two months is simply asking too much of such a small company. I am sorry, I paid a fair price for the product, if answering questions wasn't included in that price then the price was inappropriate. What was I supposed to do? Open a trouble ticket? That hardly seems right. Call them up and interrupt them? That hardly seems right. If I was rude in my original posts, I apologize. If I came across as rude after two months of asking, oh well. :D

I want what I want when I want it, that is my right as a customer. A company should deliver what it promises when it promises and it should declare what their plans are for their customers as soon as it is prudent & proper, that is their responsibility as a trusted supplier.

Rich stated on HS-BB that UPB and Insteon would be supported in 2.0 Not gonna support it in 1.7 because the new code base is not backward compatable.
